It depends. It is already an offense under the Fraud Act of 2006, but that's only if they profit from doing so. For the mentally ill weirdos walking around with Victoria Crosses and commando flashes sewn on poorly, I don't believe it's illegal. They just get laughed at.

I remember the controversy over the killing of Bin Laden. I think 2 Seal Team 6 guys both took credit and wrote books. These are supposed to be the elite of the elite but one, or maybe both, are dirty ass liars. I think this is a type of stolen valour.
Neither one of them killed him either..first guy through the door that actually killed him will never say a word…but I will..Bill Rapier was the first DEVGRU operator through the door and he dropped his ass.

I’m not breaking the internet by saying this..it’s very well known within the community
