I have logged a lot of miles on the track, road and yes treadmill. I was a sprinter in high school and college.   I use the treadmill example because that's what most bodybuilders can relate to.  So 10mph at 1% incline does equal the effort to run a six minute mile on level road.  If the treadmill is so worthless get on one at 10MPH and see if you can run a mile.  It should be easy because the treadmill is worthless.

treadmills are the most useless thing in the gym.....get out and actually try it...

A 7:30 mile is something to be proud of.  I don't know who you are but you look hot in that picture.  Keep up the running program it's working.

I have to back peddal one of my answers..NO I CANNOT run a 6 min mile. I tried today but I couldnt do it..did it 7 and half minutes but there is no way I can do it in 6. Im only 5ft3 and short legs.

thank you but it wasn't easy that is for sure. I do find it much easier to run outside in races then the treadmill as far as speed goes. I ran my first 5k last year with a 8 min mile average and sure doesnt seem like I was running that face in the race. The marathon I ran last year, my average was 12.29 mile..ugh gotta improve that this year on the next marathon

treadmills take away what little fun there is in running

I'd rather be outside running down a trail or through a city at night

not a big believer in running. at 250 + it's brutal on my knees, hips and back.

Bicycling however is a great thing....here in AZ i bike a lot of short trips that i otherwise would drive to....I bike to my gym at least three times a week, up to the store if i'm doing a light shopping....etc.

It's good cardio and I'm actually trying to be a little environment friendly

i get free protein off that shit son!! 8lbs of it.

everybody who wants some hella bomb ass protein at dirt cheap prices... like.. 9 bucks a pound for the best whey isolate available with free flavoring of your choice.... and custom mixes with whatever the hell you want in it for hella cheap too...

if you like the convenience of being able to drink a meal.. whether your at work, school, or just out and about but dont feel like eating anything with calories but still wanna get yoru basic protien needs met...  then trueprotein is the fucking place to do it

and use my code too cuz i get free protein  :)

why would i need all that protein powder when all thats needed to maximally stimulate synthesis is 20g  ???

i can get 20g from milk, a little tuna, chicken, beef, bacon, some eggs etc etc

in fact you yourself have commented in another thread that you are better eating a few grams of protein every 20mins or so, rather than big feedings.

not to mention - dantes powder tastes like ass.

I will say this Pluck, perhaps its the competiveness in me. My goal is to run a 6 min mile by June 15. It's gonna be hard to do but I can try. After running 4 miles, I did another mile at 7 and half minutes, just gotta keep speeding up little by little

ummmmmmmm   FATPANDA

is there a requirement on protein shakes that one must overcomsume them??

is there a requirement on protein shakes that one must use them exclusively instead of whole food?

is there a reason why you would only want to buy 20 grams of protein at once if you could get pounds!! of the stuff at once and save money per gram?? (wholesale is always cheaper)

FATPANDA

the protein on dante's site trueprotein is cheaper gram for gram than any other source of protein. cheaper than beef, cheraper cthan chicken, cheaper than milk, cheaper than tuna.

not only is the protein cheaper, but its the best possible protein (whey) you can possibly take in.

the cheapest and the best?

oh yeah, did i mention free flavoring??

(btw the only protein that tastes bad is the hydrolyzed proteins. the rest taste great, especially when you use his free flavoring system.

i've yet to find a protein powder that tastes better than steak or chicken or egg or etc etc.

20g of these things is not that expensive you know  ;)

i can also buy these sources in bulk  ;)

also free flavoring on ass tasting powder is still just flavoring on ass tasting powder  :)

Advice for newmom at the quest for a 6 min mile. Try some interval training, by running 4 to 8 quarter mile intervals and running each interval at a 90 sec clip at a 2 to 1 ratio, meaning 90 sec quarter mile run followed by a 3 min walk, do this twice a week. Remember, I am just an out of shape fat toad, but that doesn't mean that I don't know what I'm talkin bout :>

Interesting mile run fact:

When Roger Bannister ran the first sub-4:00 mile in 1954, he trained primarily with high intensity 400-meter sprints.  At the time, other competitive mile runners trained almost exclusively with low intensity long distance running.  This is why he was able to throw down his enemies and smite their ruin 8)
