::) Yes because we all know For Profit Pharmeceutical companies have our best interest at heart and are looking out for us.

SHOW ME THE MONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNEYYYY YYYY!   Best racket ever.

The objective of these foundations is not to support Big Pharmas it's to support our people. Obviously the pharmas are in the loop, there is no avoiding that. Do you suggest that because someone is making $$ off of Cancer we sit back and do nothing? No, some like the people in the pics you posted have decided to fight and not give up. It's a race for the cure, not a race to stuff the pockets of big pharmas.

I think this whole "Walk for the Cure" thing is about self-righteous assholes who want to go around bragging that they took part in such an event and will quickly whip out the photos or wear the T-Shirt to prove it.  "Look at me! Look at me!  I am fighting Cancer too!"

haha i thought i was the only one annoyed by these people

All of this running, baking, biking and motorcycle riding etc....= a waste of time, effort (not that wearing your favorite pink visor and moo moo shorts with sunglasses whilst walking 3 mph is any real effort anyways) and money so far.

I wonder why all activities are necessary ?  ???    You`d think it would be enough to just waste the money and donate without ever having to walk/run with a bunch of smelly old people (and a few schmucks in spandex who treat it like the olympics) or without ever having to wear some gay ribbon or stupid wrist band.

But no, its always donate this, buy that, run here, walk there.  All for nothing.

Fuck your Cancer.

TrueAnal...you're posts don't make sense when they aren't supported by Wiki material.  Anyway...you can start a cancer fund for a couple of clowns on this site who think it makes them cool burning up their lung cilia in numerous photos sucking on cigarettes or cigars.

They do it because 'domesticated primates' find security in group activites.  Peer reinforcement of an individual's reality tunnel implies inclusion in the pack.  Inclusion implies safety.  Exclusion implies death. It's simply a genetic response to fear and accounts for 99.995% of all human activity.

by the way that 99.995% is scientifically accurate...I did the math myself!   (no homo)

It helps individuals who are indirectly affected by cancer to feel proactive about the issue.  Participants obviously know they won't be directly involved in the process of developing new treatments, however a simple marathon or session of fasting (any act that takes effort and makes the person feel they have to strive for a particular outcome) gives one the feeling they are working together and contributing to a greater cause.  It is basically a person's way of saying they care.

Oh and it is a great fun way to meet new like minded people , you should try one...

Agreed it's about cancer culture as a whole. It's pretty much the only event in history where someone can take some pride in being effected by cancer. My mom almost died two years ago. Last month one of her friends died at 55.  When you realize that the majority of the people you know are gonna get sick from it you kinda like being able to do something that isn't moppey assed whiney.

Besides it's the perfect place to meet up with some high quality women. Women are alot more open to advances when they think your their for a cause.  ;)

TA, you ever think that maybe they wouldnt be able to raise as much money if they didnt put on all these "fun" fundraising events with the free shirts and social activities..???    i agree with you about it being a waste of time, and money. lots of wasteful behavior. but you gotta spend money to make money. organizing something fun  and giving souvenirs greatly increases the amoutn of donors, enough so to offset costs and increase total funds raised.

Then there are the douchebags who shave their head as if the person with Cancer wants to be fucking reminded that their hair will be permanently fucked if not gone forever.  Yah thats real nice and fucking brilliant.  Remind them of their plight constantly all with a shit eating grin.

it would be funny if true anus or his stupid gf were diagnosed with cancer one day. They probably wont be together anymore anyway, it's only a matter of time before she figures how big of an insecure loser he is.

I think I agree sort of with Adonis...on this one. In all the years of raising money for Cancer research, they basically use the same primitive, barbaric treatments  of Surgery, radiation, and chemo that they've been doing for close to 50 years. Other promising treatments are scoffed at by the American medical system..simply because there are special interests in maintaining the status quo. The chemo drugs make a fortune for the pharmaceutical companies.
