bench pressing is over rated

right now i could do 7 reps with 120kg

but dumbelss feel betrer

If those are seven strict reps, that's not a terrible bench press.  You should have at least 275x6, which would easily translate to singles in the 335-340 range.

I still disagree with you about younger natty guys putting up comparable numbers, though.  I rarely went over 225-245 because I was training Heavy Duty/HIT to the letter, including the 4 down, pause on chest, 2 seconds up crap.  But I still had no problem doing smooth singles with 315 when I was 18 -- and no, I wasn't taking anything.  Some of my classmates, who actually practiced a more powerlifting-oriented routine, could do more.

And no, I've never benched 405   I gave up on flat benching a long time ago.  I was a big, fat bloated test E mess at 240-245 going as high as 370 for quality triples.  Even then, I felt like the weight would pull my sternum apart.  And that was still when I was young enough to get away with all that and suffer no rotator cuff pain to speak of.

some serious bullshit in this thread

In the miniscule chance those lifts happened it was with another guy pulling up on the bar with all his strength, and the reps were 1/2 at best

405 for 3 and 455 natural, yeah. ok. 'nothing special'

ill believe it when i see the form and rom of those reps.

ever since the cswol disaster, we need videos or all claims fly out of the window due to the wild variety of what ppl think a proper rep is.

i have sen here ppl calling a pullup being proper , and those pullups wouldnt do 1 thing for back muscle growth.

i can do maybe 8reps on a good day, wide grip no lock out full and slow rom, back fully flexed.theres no way i can do 9.

someppl claimed they can do 20.when i seen their form, well, i can do 20of those too.

i have yet to see, in 20 years in all the gyms where the biggest idiots gather, the fanatics, a real strong natty who isnt very fat.
