You think it isn't in american interests to contain and tackle a contagious virus in an age of mass air travel? He might proclaim humanitarian grounds for aid etc but there is a logical reason.
Problem is no one has yet stepped up and said cage off the areas where it is for fear of being called alarmists or inhumane. 50 years ago we put people with tb in sanitariums to contain the spread, too soft now to do the right thing when it is a tough decision.
