what is the most you have done or have seen done?i saw a powerlifter at my gym close grip 385 for 6 reps last night. unreal!
and by close grip i mean hands just about 3 inches apart
For some reason, I close-grip as much as I regular bench..Why is this? Strong triceps?

Apparently then you could stand to build some strength off the chest to up your overall number. Deep-stretch dumbbell presses and cambered barbell presses can help, but this could be an oversimplification having not seen your form.
