I doubt they go back to conservative basics as it just isn't popular with the majority.  There is a way republicans can bring in a UBI and Universal Healthcare (2 popular ideas) while slashing other government programs and making them very popular with the electorate.  They need to have more leaders and less who are just in office to oppose the democrats.

I agree with you and the reason for this is that they don’t want to address the primary issue which is employer-based healthcare. To truly get free market healthcare you’d have to phase that out.
