I think Trump is stupid enough to continue to hold rallies long after he is kicked to the curb from the WH.  It's an ego thing.  He can't stop.

his ego definitely needs them but he won't be POTUS so he's not going to be able to violate city rules against large public gatherings

There is also the issue of who is going to pay for them.  Trump sure as shit isn't going to pay and everyone knows he's a deadbeat so no one is going to give him credit.

you may be missing the point:

"Everyone laughs at how stupid the Trump lawsuits are. Can you believe these morons? They lose everywhere! Even Republican judges keep slapping them down! How embarrassing for Trump!

But that’s the wrong way to think about Trump’s actions since November 3. Because his goal hasn’t been to keep the office of the president. It’s been to keep the Republican party.

On the morning of November 4, Donald Trump faced two problems. The first was that he was going to lose the power of the presidency. The second was that this loss endangered his ownership of the GOP.

Now, owning a major political party isn’t as useful as being president. But it’s not nothing, either. In a two-party system, you can exert a great deal of power by being the head of a party. You have businesses and foreign governments that will pay tribute to you. You have capos spread across the country, ready to do your bidding. You have an audience of something like 40 million partisans who can be mined for contributions and mobilized as a flash mob whenever you need them.

A political party is, to paraphrase El Blago, a valuable forking thing. Why would anyone willingly let go of it?

So for Trump, the lawsuits, the posturing, the couping—yes, it would be nice if he wound up as president on January 21. But that’s the secondary objective. The primary objective was to stop the Republican party from leaving him and, if possible, tighten his grasp on it."

The primary objective his lawsuits were to grift more money from his brain dead followers

I don't see him being able to hold massive rallies after he leaves office.  Large gatherings won't be allowed and even if they were He won't pay for them

His dumb ass supporters are.  You know... the ones that thought they were funding the wall, but were getting scammed.  And the ones that think they are funding his efforts to overturn the election, but really aren't.

not if he truly plans on running again in 2024... i agree, itd be and look pretty stupid to have political rallies if youre not running... you never know w the donald though? lol, smh..

One name ; Sarah Pain.
Once she was done as McCain's 2008 VP running mate she was all about "acting" like a future Presidential candidate.
Within 2 years , she resigned as GOV of Alaska and did her best to make money off her political name.

Palin floated the idea she'd run until it become time to declare in 2012 and quickly bowed out.
She had a  book run , a lucrative pac  , and a brief run with a cable reality TV show " Sarah Palin's Alaska".
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1625263/episodes?year=2010&ref_=ttep_ep_yr_pv

Granted she's a much smaller figure then Trump, but she has similar traits.
For starters, she has zero interest in the day to day tasks of governing .

If Trump  continues to generate funds to pay his 420 million debt from shady ( Russian?) bankers, he'll stay in the public eye.
THAT and his NY state tax/mortgage fraud  troubles will be his primary enemy once he leaves office.

I suspect he'll always have a few million nut huggers in his fan club and milk that for his continued financial survival.
My main concern with Trump involves his selling out American national security secrets for his own financial gains.
