It’s called being professional. Police officers are entrusted with a high amount of power and authority, accordingly they must be held to a higher standard.
If an American citizen exercising their constitutional rights offends and enrages you to the point where you seek retaliation, you are not fit to be a law enforcement officer. Plain and simple.
They're not held to a higher standard. They're held to a double standard. What standard are you holding someone to when on mere sight alone your first reaction is to flip them off, call them a pig or a fascist or racist? Yeah. When I think of someone being held to a higher standard my reaction is to always treat them to the lowest standard possible. LOL. Don't give me that higher standard bullshit. You of all people think of coos in terms of the lowest possible standards. That's what I do to things I hold to a higher standard, I shit all over them!
Legally - the trans asshole can resist unlawful use of force but it is a crime to resist arrest, even if you perceive it to be an unlawful arrest. This is binding case law from the u.s. Supreme court. If transman didn't resist it wouldn't have escalated. As far as the initial stop IF- mind you IF- that was the only reason for the stop then discipline is warranted against the cop because cops can't stop or detain you for free speech. If the stop is unlawful it is for the courts to decide. Thats why it is againstthe law to resist arrest. Despite that, once again, there is only one point of view presentedin this video, and it sure as fuck isn'tthe cops. Even the video says " this is the entire, unedited video," then the video begins at the exact moment the cop physically grabs the dude. Quite obviously not the entire video. But im sure youd never entertain the idea that there was more that led up to it..... oh yeah sure... Im suuuuure the black commentator isn't biased or hyperbolous at all. And Im suuuuuure the trans man gave a verry honest, accurate, unmitigated account of his own innocent actions.
There are tiers of 'stops' ranging from mere conversation to detentions to arrests. During the course of an interaction a cop may develop reasonable suspension or probable cause to detain or arrest someone. Also the motor vehicle code and state statutes are thousands of pages long there are litteraly thousands of reasons a cop can make a traffic stop. Sure flipping off a cop is constitutionally protected but flipping off a cop might draw attention to the driver not wearing a seat belt or having a cracked tail light, or violating the speed limit any number of reasons to make a stop. Of course none of that is addressed here.
I seriously doubt that anyone on this forum has the restraint to be held to your definition of a 'higher standard.' Im sure all you arm chair constituionalist would welcome this tranny walking up and publicly disrespecting them merely for being a part of the white male patriarchy. And if you were a cop, im suuuure none of you would search through your motor vehicle code reference guide to find some legal justification to stop this person. And im 100% certain that when this asshole started physically fighting with you, you'd take the high road because you are held to a higher standard. Yeah right.
