I think he has damaged himself way beyond that at this point.  If Trumpy doesn't get the nod, I can see someone coming out of the woodwork and grabbing the nomination at the last minute.

It's almost like they are oblivious to the fact the majority witnesses are republican. Much like they are oblivious to the FACT Republican officials, judges,  AG and VP agreed the election was legitimate.
