I'm a "reverse connoisseur".

I buy the cheapest of decent quality.

Many times everything I'm wearing, from sneakers and socks on up, comes from the Walmart clearance racks.

I buy cheap coffee.  Coffee to me is like beer: it all tastes like shit.  I drink it for effects,  not taste.

A few years ago I started using instant coffee but holy crap it irritates my throat. Very acidic.

So I came across Betel nut on Amazon and ordered some. Damn I loved it.  It tasted OK and had a great 'pick me up' effect.  However,  after 2 orders it became illegal or , more accurately, regulated in the States and now I can't find it anywhere.

You can make your own brew. Just don't chew the beans. You'll shit them out just like the monkeys

The best coffee is one where the beans aren't burned when roasting.

Best coffee I ever had was from Ethiopia- it was not bitter, didn't need any cream or sugar and tasted incredible. But it cost a frigging fortune so after a 5 pound bag I went back to piss water.

Ha. Light roasts need longer extraction time (or a higher water temperature). If you're going to keep to an undiluted espresso ratio, a low flow pre-soak is useful. It's like foreplay. Takes a little bit longer but you'll enjoy the payoff.

I have a friend that's a bioscientist who specializes in coffee. Her family have their own coffee company. She pretty much turned me into a coffee snob, so like other snobs - I prefer to make my own in my overly complicated coffee machine.
