There's this Jewish writer who is constantly blasting Louie, about his and their racism. Says he's so glad Louie died, he was a piece of shit.

I didn't know this was an issue until I saw Jamie's posts. And yeah, this guy takes offence because he is Jewish, otherwise he admires "strong and tough men."

This guy is a very good writer imo but his leftist talking points are a bit much.

Subversive scum not a writer.

Not the 2 exercises in the OP, but my decades of gymcelling have made me conclude that heavy barbell squats and deadlifts are overrated for hypertrophy.

I only do them with bands now (squats sometimes bodyweight). And zercher squats with the barbell for that core strength building.

It can't be good for you pushing your spine down with a heavy barbell. It's unnatural. The zercher squat is more of a natural movement.

I agree they do fuck all for mass, and the zercher squat is pretty effective.

But it fucking hurts my arms enough that I can only go to a certain point.

Seeing what this guy likes, he would have been fawning over Westside Barbell if it wasn't for the racism, the rebel flag or whatever which he assumes would have extended to "anti-semitism," and perhaps for good reason. He as a jew wouldn't have fit in. So no he gets all emotional. What dj said fits in in what Jamie says so probably true.

I just about always include stiff deads off a block. The new way is to kept the back stiff but I round a little and never had a problem.

The body adapts to whatever you are doing. Lots of lifters flex the spine a little with regular deads and never have problems. In the physical therapist community they argue about the utility of "Jefferson curl.." Which is a light deadlift with an intentionallly rounded back.

yes & no but i think from my experience that moderate weights & reps are key for a Bodybuilder.
I do squats & Deadlifts for at least 10 reps & have good results. Sometimes i will do leg press for sets of 15-20 & get a great pump.
Depends on your Goals & physical constitution.

I include behind the Neck presses from time to time. Heard from PL's that it helps greatly with their benches. I see this exercise done in gyms, but not by many.  Older guy's who look like they know what their doing mostly.

I will usually use a bar only for a stretch and warmup. Some space their grip out too wide which may cause extra stress on the shoulder girdle (inserts/joint). A little wider than shoulder width works well for  most.  But make no mistake the BNP a excellent shoulder movement, with the potential of hitting all three heads of the delts. Suggest that the upper body be kept at  a straight up position. If using a shoulder press bench, might make sure it's a straight up  mount.

I also include pullups behind the neck, touching the nap of the neck each rep.. To me an excellent movement for stretch and strength..

Have done quite a bit of SLDL's over the years.. But find that RDL hit the lower back and hams much better, on me anyway. Will tend more to keep the whole back straight, while you may tend to round the back more when doing regular SLDL's.

Good Luck.

You can actually hit the shoulders well, at least the front, by doing dumbells on an incline with like a parallel grip and the elbows in toward the body. Of course I always read that you should move your elbows out as much as possible but that might not be necessary. Elbows in is way easier on the shoulder joint. Of course elbows out barbell chest presses are dangerous for the pec attachment, which was a hard lesson for me. But I do like BNPs too and can still do them without pain at 46.

For awhile every exercise variation was called Bulgarian. Now I see it's Romanian.  Do they really do these exercises in Romania?
Ask Sev.

I have recently diagnosed neck arthritis that spreads to my upper shoulder/clavicle area and was told to not do lat pulldowns OR military presses as it would make the pain and the condition worse?...

As you get older, the risk/reward ratio of having a heavy bar loaded on your back becomes not worth it, IMO.
