Used to post here when it started out way more then any other board but after my drunken "I hate men" meltdown, not so much.

Tiptoeing quietly until the embarrassment dissipates.  :-[

edit: which honestly is a bit of a shame because I have some great sexual harressment stories at work.   ;D

It was soooo nothing. I make those comments when I'm totally sober.  :P

Besides, sexual harrassment stories are always hilarious.  You should share  ;D

I DID get DSL...but it's not working correctly.  Toxy said I need to contact Verizon and ask for a "trouble ticket" which I guess makes someone come out here and fix the thing.

It takes a long time to load videos still and I guess they should play immediately :'(

Plus, as you know my excel doesn't work :'(

I do know.  :(    Make sure you call Verizon ASAP.  How old is the computer?  It may have something to do with the slow load...the speed of the computers processor.  Even if you had a T1 line if you have an old processor...your pages/videos/etc. would load slow.

Then you should have all the "computer" speed you need.  You need to get Verizon out there quickly.

You can download openoffice.org. When u save a file though, make sure it has the right extension otherwise it's not compatible with ms office.

Or just fix ms office...

STella, you can test your computers broadband speed by visiting http://performance.toast.net

Select: Shuttle + Text, then hit the "Run Test" button. It will tell you your speed.

This way, you'll now if the problem is in your broadband or your computer.

Hope That Helps   :)

No "hun"   ;) ...molasses is sloooooooow. You're modem has croaked.  :-\
Either that or you've hooked into dial-up access instead of broadband. Your speed is comparable to dial up

You might want to try emptying your cache and temporary files, then rebooting.

yes that is really slow.  I would think one of several things.  Do you have DSL filters on ALL your phone jacks?  Also are all your connections secure. I mean are they tight, no loose cables etc.  If you have filters on everything and the cables are fine, then the problem may be you NIC card or even perhaps the DSL modem itself.  As for the excel files, if you have teh original dosks just reolad it, after you back everything up!  You could go to micrsoft.com and access the tech support there to help.  Oppen office is good also, i run that on my laptop, since i dont feel like forking over $$$$ for Office.  The other thing you could do, is try to renew and refresh you IP address.  Sometimes this helps, sometimes not.  Also are you running a router r firewall?  sometimes these can cause slow down if not configured properly
