All joking aside...I don't disagree...as you know, my main objective over the last few years is to bring more entertainment into the mix....BUT...you don't do it at the expense of the other athletes that have earned the right to be there by qualifying, or jeopardizing the integrity by "inviting" athletes....
I agree the intergrity is important. Definitely has to be a balance. maybe just the top 3 interesting guys that year... heck, that might encourage guys to seek publicity instead of hiding in their labs til contest day. If a guy like Ruhl could generate enough interest with a feud with someone, by all means, he should. Or build houses for the homeless. whatever it takes to get talked about. Sport is lacking explosive personalities lately.
I remember as a part-time fan in the 90s, the Ferrigno comeback (and I remember reading special invite to teh O?) was one of the two stories I remember from that decade. Cause he was a star, a human interest story, and we had no clue what would happen til he took the stage... and 10 weeks later, I got my FLEX mag and found out he got 12th

But I can't tell you who got 11,10,9,8,7th that year.
