guy does over double his bodyweight for 11 reps and you're correcting him? i have a better idea, let's see you pull 480 for 11 and then start criticizing.

beastly lift, lee. making me feel like a weak little pussball now.  >:(

Agreed...not perfect, but if you trained that hard consistantly, you would grow...period.

you would grow more (back) and be able to do deadlifts more often+ not risk injury if you do the deadlifts yates style and lift with the right weight for your body mass

i agree, there was nothing wrong at all with any of those reps, that's 485 for 11 reps, very strong guy, it's easy to sit back and critique but how many in this thread could do that?

i can and could. i used to do powerlifting style deadlifts and got up to 280 for a couple of reps but my back improved alot when i did 180kg yates style deadlifts,  focusing on using my back instead of all lower back+leg drive.

He did say he will be competing in the deadlift as well. Do you think Ronnie's and Johnnie's deads are bad for bodybuilding purposes as well? "Pure" powerlifting is excellent to build size for a natural trainer.

not for slaveboy, he gets better "results' when he pulls 380 as opposed to 610 for 2. ::)

sure have. the initial pull is too much legs and ass if doing powerlifting style deadlifts. legs i focus on, on another day.

ive stopped doing them from the floor, i pick them the bar up off the squat safety-bars.  i think its safer for the back not to start from a low position with big weight.

it is called the deadlift for a reason, genius.  pick a dead weight from the fcvking floor.  there's nothing wrong though with doing partials from safety bars, but i am pissed when i am about to do legs and some fgagots are hoggin the squat rack because they have to do the fcvking dead lift from the hooks (or even better, biceps curls).

This thread shows why "bodybuilders" shouldnt try to explain things to each other. the efforts far exceeds the gain

i dont think you understand, when i pick it up, i step back and do full range of motion deadlift, and when finish lean forward to drop the weight on the bars. So that way you will warm up your lower-back with first lowering the weight down and then up from a starting position.

i would like to see you doing it with your max weight, i think it is retarded to step back with a shitload of weight

I wouldnt' give a care to much of the criticism here bro. That's good dead lifting! I say throw on the extra weight and start doing 500+ instead of dicking around in the mid 4's :D :P.

I pull the same way and it feels great. Since you're so tall, bending down that low must be kinda rough. It is for me. Even if you can't rep it like that, move up in weight and start adding reps on 500+!!  ;D  nice to see someone here putting up the bigger weight.

reading half the shit in here is a ridiculous waste of time. No matter if you're doing a stiff leg'd dead or a conventional dead...you're always going to work your back, traps, forearms, and legs...ALWAYS! To what degree depends on the exercise. But you can't deadlift a certain way to target one particular body part. It's impossible. It's THE original compound movement. Even if you're picking them up at the knees off the pins, you're still getting leg drive to get it up and off.

those looked strong man but I think you could do more with getting your ass in the grass it would flatten your back out and use your legs and glutes more which gets you the power ....but if your injury free and your back doesent scream at you for a week after then maybe it works for you

My traps and forearms are a bit tight but to be honest I dont feel it in my low back really at all.  I get sorer from strict hyperextensions.  My structure suits the way I do them.  Watch Ronnie Coleman The Unbeleivable.  He does them exactly the same and he is pretty tall also.

im surprised you dont have a hernia, it almost looks like a good morning. you need to bend your knees lower, thats the perfect deadlift, this is ego training. good luck

You're wrong.

He would need more leg strength for that.

Right now, he's lifting with near-optimal style.

Focusing on deep squats would probably help his deadlift more than anything.

THIS SHIT RIGHT HERE IS GOLDEN! MY SQUAT AND DEADS HAVE BOTH GONE UP WHEN I STARTED DOING THEM! I STARTED SQUATTING AND MY DEADS CAME UP. I STARTED DOING DEADS MORE OFTEN AND MY SQUAT NUMBERS WENT UP! These two single exercises are the kings of compound movements.
