He was in Miami getting a second opinion on his knee at the time of the trajedy.

That doesn't seem plausible. A second opinion on his knee? Since when do pro football players go outside of their team doctors and physicians? He was just resting the injury and was scheduled to return to the team in a couple of weeks. (I'm not that far from DC so I get all the team's localized news reports just like the Ravens.)

I read the reason he was down there was to look after his house after it was burglarized a week ago. He asked coach Gibbs for permission to do so and it was granted. That's why he wasn't on the team flight back to DC.

Shittin me right...They go outside of team doctors all the time...there is an ACL guy that is in Alabama that they damn near ALL go to. Spikes was the last guy to go there...There are MDs who are like the best in this area or that area. They get second opinions all the time

Oh, I agree with you. I just meant for non-season ending type injuries(minor). He was only supposed to miss a few games and the last I heard he was just resting the injury. I wasn't disagreeing with the players seeking second opinions. I just meant to say that the injury wasn't serious enough for him to miss extended time so why would he be seeking a second opinion.

Sorry, I should have clarified myself.

His knee injury was diagnosed as a sprain initially. He was originally due back on the field in a week according to team reports and the local news.

oh i gotcha...yeah for season ending shit/rehab they go to the specialist guy, but for youre right, they go to the team ortho for sprains and shit.

It sucks but the show must go on as they say.

It's going to be an extremely emotional day on Sunday for the Redskins home game against the Bills. I get the Redskins games locally so I'll be tuning in. No question, I'll be shedding a tear. Going to be hard not to.

Holy shit, is that going to be tough for the fans and players. A tribute, moment of silence, the whole nine yards.

this whole situation seems odd..the multiple break ins---the person breaking into his bedroom...one thinks that if someone is trying to rob a house they'd do it when no one is around and the last place they are going to go into is the bedroom where the owner is sleeping...no sensible thief would even risk getting his ass shot off...and what thief goes in strapped---i'm thinking there is a whole lot more to this whole story than we are hearing.

No idea bro. Thats one of the things I had heard. Could be 100 percent wrong.

All of the details will unfold soon enough, I'm sure. We'll all probably know twice as much info tomorrow as we did today.

eric turner was the last to be picked that high..sadly, he's dead too...lesson to be learned: don't pick a safety in the top 5 picks..chances are he'll die.

They also cut the guys phone lines. His fiancee couldn't even call the cops because of that.

Ok seriously ill give you some of the scoop on Eric Turner. Dude is from Venrura county but really Oxnard...he is related to my Mothers good friend. The story is that while still in high school (Ventura) that he was getting gear from his coach in high amounts....and he used them through his tenure at ucla and into the browns/ravens....But nonetheless  he was a hell of a ball player though...pride of ventura, him and Randall Cunningham

Stating the obvious, since she did in fact use a cell though it took longer as a result.

Apparently Gibbs didn't know that he was down there at some point, plus he didn't have any security or gun despite the break in earlier; something's up.

If the intent was to kill he'd have been shot 5-6 times; it was likely just payback and not intended to be fatal.

The wife and kid are extremely lucky to have gotten thru it unharmed, they were defenseless.

Um ya we got to the cell phone AND the part you didn't know and left out, that she used one only after trying a landline, all of which delayed medical help.
