Help me with my abs...

Hey guys,

I have a question regarding extended belly. I have been working out for a while now, and I am almost satisfied with what I have achieved. I will never be big, but I think I am still bigger than average... so that is good.

I can also manage to get ripped down to a normal level, my only problem is my stomach. It is extended. No matter how ripped I am, I still look like pregnant. I have done some cycle now and then but no GH ever...

I have even stopped training my abs not to make them more bigger, thus more extended, nd I have also tried working them more often... I have tried not using weights when doing crunches (no machines). I am even considering eating lot smaller portions of food to have it more flat...

But really I need some advice on what I am doing wrong... I am also thinking that it can be something with my digestion (medical for being bloated)

So pls give me some insights and help... I guess I cant go around some mean comment, but hey this is Getbig.. :)

Try fasting, my stomach is somewhat similar to yours if I don't keep my abs tight, but they look much flatter for some time after fasting even when fully relaxed.

Maybe just genetics but there are lots of things you can try.  But don't worry much about it man, you look better than most of us here. 

-Fasting
-Cleanse, and detox to get the "gunk" out of your gut
-Lose more weight
-Constantly suck in your gut and hold it in thruout your day
-Eat smaller meals
-Avoid foods that may bloat you. 

I'm sure there are other things you could try.  Good luck.

Extra fat can build up behind the ab wall, giving more pressure to bulge out. And mostly to the middle or lower ab region. People can look somewhat muscular and trim but still have that extra layer of fat. Happens a lot to folks who have lost a lot of weight, though that lower belly seems to still hang (no pun) around. Or to a lot of normal weight (what ever that is) people. If the main cause where gas bloating if would affect the middle and upper wall as well.

And as mentioned by (and more likely) Tbombz, it may be a genetic storage for extra  body fat. Tends to get more serious as one ages. 

Fasting also calls on muscle mass, as well as body fat, fore maintaining daily body energy and functions. Though controlled fasting can help the body in a lot of ways, probably not a great ideas to do more than a short one day fast for the BB'er. And not he best way to lose a targeted area like the lower belly.

A vacuum exercises to hit the  muscles and supporting muscles around and behind the ab wall may help. During the day you would bend at the waist and try drawing the stomach up and in as tight as you could get it. Exhale drawing in, inhale when releasing. High reps for these, beginning at 12 or so and working to 30-40 or more. Once learned, the vacuum is done at a fast pace. Fix your mind on drawing in the complete ab wall, upper, middle and lower.  This hits the abs like standard exercises do not.

Could also consider muscle control for a superior ab workout. Like ab roles, isolation one side and that the other, ab ropes, etc. Great stuff when taken the time to learn. True mind body connection. Good Luck.

Also cut back on sugars.  When your insulin levels spike, fat is stored mostly in the stomach area.   Thats why we see a lot of skinny diabetics with huge guts.

You are quite lean......

I would focus on gaining more size and not worry so much about your midsection......

You may just have an allergic reaction to a certain type of food that creates a little bloat...... Just a guess though.

I get bloated if I eat things that have gluten. Just my 2 cents though.

Thank you for all the help:) I appreciate all the serious comments and advices! There is a lot of knowledge on these boards.

- Atually these last photos surprised me as I never expecyed my belly be this "bloated"... But they were also taken while on vacation in Mexico. Allthough I did never eat "strange food" it can still be some of the adjustment to that..

- I will try to eat very lean (cooked meet, rice) the next 2-4 weeks ltes see what happens

- I will also se a doctor cause I never really checked up my stomach since all the "powder food" I have been eatig since I started working out...

- maybe a cleansing would be good now...

Thanks again! I was interesting with the extra fat info under the muscles--- I will read up upon that.

This was my immediate thought. Looks like you may be genetically predisposed to higher levels of visceral adiposity. In that case, the only option is to lean out a bit more.

vacuums for the diaphragm and transverse abdominus


forced expiration of air while flexing abs for the transverse abs


side twists to forced expiration of air for obliques... kind of like tightening shoe laces.


eating smaller portions often throughout the day helps keep the waist line trim


take a look at the way Frank Zane posed his abs, and then practice that throughout the day. You can breathe air out forcefully and quietly while holding a conversation.

You can also keep the abs contracted throughout the day without anyone knowing that you are secretly training them... breathe out and hold...

I read a study that the worst thing you can do after eating is to go sit or lay down to relax a bit.  Supposedly this is because blood flows to the stomach to aid in digestion and because of your relaxed body position, blood isn't needed elsewhere in the body which causes more blood to pool in the stomach, resulting in a distended gut.  So they say it's better to go take a walk or something to get the blood circulating more thoroughly throughly throughout your body.  I don't know if it's true or not, but it seems to make sense.

I also don't know your eating habits but if your only eating 3 or so meals a day that means you're packing in more food to satisfy your hunger, resulting in stomach extension.  If this is the case, try eating a lot more smaller meals spread throughout the day. Or maybe it's your genetics.  In any case, good luck!

1. Although I am Swedish, I live in Eastern Europe so donating an organ is an easy option... I need only to get sick and get laid into a hospital, you go to sleep and when you wake up in the morning it is already done...

2. I have an anorectic GF... :) She stole that option...

3. Why do you want to see my face? :)

On the serious matter, I eat 5 times per day but I am thinking about cutting done on the portions and maybe have a 6th 7th meal (eating at night time...).

Usually I take a walk after eating, rarely I lay down.
