my response and commentary to the getbig commentary
Did you listen to the speech? Obama said the government was made on arguments.checks and balances is what OUR government is based on.
i dont remember him saying that. i remember somehting similar though. either way, it was made up of alot of different things. he didnt say it was ONLY made of arguments.
now, that being said, i shouldnt have responded to you at all. because the issue you are bringing up really has nothing at all to do with anything he was talking about. your pulling parts of sentences out of the speach and out of contet, and then trying to imply a idealogical undertone. media spin 101 classis move.
Yeah, the economy sucks right now and everyone wants to run to the party not in power when shit blows up, but I think people are seeing now this "change" guy is just another liberal, one using the currect economic crisis as an excuse to push through the same bullshit socialist agenda the left has been pushing for years. Obama isn't the savior the media made him out to be, he's just another socialist trying to fuck up the last relatively free society in the West. Bush may have been an idiot, but everyone forgets it was his economic team (Paulson & Bernanke) who prevented the financial meltdown from turning into something like the Great Depression Part II.
I think the moderates who ran to Obama in panic a year ago are regretting their decision, and in time more and more people are seeing behind Obama's carefully-crafted media mask. Hopefully it will be in time to vote him out in '12, and hopefully the GOP puts someone electable on the ticket, not another neocon or religious wingnut.
obama hasnt not at all been what i thought he was going to be. but he is an imporvement from what weve had, and he may not do enough good to pull our country to its full potential, but he will do some good to it. hes going to leave america better than when he came in, which is more than the gop can say during their last 12 years of presidencies. obama fucing up the freeedom? america is hardly the most free country in the world. if you mean corporate freedoms? well yes out of the industrialized countries, america really does have the most freedoms for large sized business and corporations. but for the majority of people who live under a government freedom doesnt refer to economic freedoms, but to social freedoms.as far as the everyday citizens freedoms go, america is probably the most restrictive goverment of all the industrialized countries... barring some muslim countries and north korea. obama will increase americans freedoms for the most part. he will increase rules and regulations in the economic sector, he has already started to. but most of the new legislation doesnt breach any inherent freedoms... just things which american business has had the privilidge of doing up untill now (unfairly so).
MATT.. I AGREE.. HE SHOULD APOLOGIZE.. but you have to realize that obama has been lying to the american public about this plan.. he cant even tell us what it is or what it entails.. one day "this is covered".. the next day it is not.. his own party is starting to not back this and they are leaving him.. obama's approval ratings are dropping like a stone.. some have his approval as low as 45% right now.. not good for only 8 months into his term.. so yes.. the guy should say he is sorry but, people are more than a little frustrated with the half truths and deceptions..
this is a perfect example of exactly what is horrible with "politics" today. complete fabrications are given light in the media and in the congress. people look for things to accuse their political rivals of, things that would look as if they could be true.. like picking out provisions in a bill that seem to be worded in away that may allow for a dark evil hidden legal loophole..."the president is hiding hyis intentions inside this provision .. he wnats to control everything!!!!!!!!" yeah... whatever. lol.
on the whole i have to say im dissapointed with obama. he has failed to put forth any serious legislation for shutting down carbon emmisions globaly. he has failed to take the one micro second it would take to sign an endorsement of a federal bill repealing unconstitutional laws telling citizens what they can and can not put in their own bodies. we still are spendign enormous amounts of money on a daily basis funding military operations in the middle east. addressing healthcare... i think he gave up too easily on universal healthcare. instead he is just trying to get a governemtn health insurance program that would be cheaper than what is out there right now. a one payer system is the only way to go. and it would be cheaper than the system currently in place, especially if he could put some legislation on drug patents that would allow for generic brands to produce very cheap and affordable medicines. the markups on drugs are iinsane, and that is where a alot of the money spent in healthcare goes. also, another reaosn why healthcare is so expensive, is the salaries paid to the medical professionals. the amoutnof qualified surgeons is very low to the demand when compared with other markets. the solution to this one lies in boosting admissions and quality of education , and lowering costs (better yet do like germany and provide totally free university education to all citizens) to all colleges
two things he said tonight=
1. people will be forced to have some kind of insurance, just like how some states force people to have car insurance. this fries my ass, the governmenbt has absolutely no right whatsoever to legislate that citizens must purchase ANYTHING.. it is completely aginst the basic principles of the constitution and bill of rights.
2. make it illegal for an insurance provider to deny insurance coverage because of an existing illness. this is complete bullshit. the government doesnt possess the ability to mandate bad business decisions. as a human beign i have the inherent right to invest my money as i see fit... and the government can not force me to give an insurance plan to someone who i know is going to be a big risk for high cost medical operations and drugs... thats just a stupid investment.
