I don't know Hayes but I was 2 stops south of Wembley on the Bakerloo line.  This was back in 98,99.  I enjoyed my time in the city but even then we used to remark how absurd it was that you couldn't find an Englishman in London.  Lived in Queens Park too, just down the road from Cat Stevens/ Steven Demetre Georgiou/ Yusuf Islam and across the street from an Islam only school that he funded.

The guys I worked with were from Dartford & despised immigrants.  I thought they were a little over the top but I have to admit it would be tough to see your country or home town basically flooded by a tsunami of immigrants, particularly when they self-segregate and exclude natives.  The yanks are in a similar boat with South/Central Americans.  I can see stepping back one day and asking: Hey, why did we let all these people in here?  What's the benefit?

It's my (perhaps mistaken) understanding that a lot of immigrants got grandfathered in under some antiquated legislation whereby anyone who was related by so much as a drop of blood to a citizen of the Crown or a spouse of a citizen was basically in.  So you'd have some soldier in India get married and 2000 distant cousins would get on a boat, lol.

Thanks for the info, and yes I can tell your angry LOL!! Sounds like a real shame what Rudd is doing, very similar to all the other EU leaders policies.

I've been thinking I need to get over to Australia and have a look around, as currently I have enough points to migrate on a skilled workers visa, but recently keep hearing all these stories here about immgration and rising cost of living in Oz. Dont want to move from one mess to another one in the making.
I guess things are probably still ten years behind in terms of the damage thats been done to the country though.

Rising for sure.  My folks came for a visit and were astounded at what things cost in WA a few years ago.  I'm retaining my US citizenship because the bubble will burst for The Lucky Country one of these days imo.  I get the impression the economy is hanging on by its fingernails but people are carrying on as if everything is hunky dorey, just charging more for services to offset rising costs elsewhere, etc.  It's got that 'could runaway at any moment' feel to it.  A contractor would generally come to work for anywhere between $25-$35/hr five years ago.  On Friday, a contractor told me he won't get out of bed for under $50/hr and tbh I can see where he's coming from.  If not for Chinese mining investment WA would be a Mad Max zone.  I wonder if a recent slump in housing costs is just the sea receding before the tsunami.

Not good, reading some of the expat forums, Ive seen similar comments, its a real shame and quite frustrating. I've wanted to emigrate somewhere for a while, the US has proven to be next to impossible to get into, and looking at everywhere else, europe, australia, all seem to have the same problems. For some time Oz seemed to be one place that was unaffected by all teh bullshit, probably the reason why so many Brits move out there....and then Rudd came along

WA is not a good representation of the Aus economy.....those fuckers were blessed with one of the richest mineral deposits in the world....gold, iron ire, coal, off-shore gas etc....its everywhere....


now the thing is ---> they better make the most of it too, because in 20 years, when it all runs out or the entry-level into Africa becomes easier or too many ppl chasing the same shit, then they better be blessing they have something to fall back on.....cause they're fucked......WA is not truly a sustainable economy outside of mining...and because of the mining, everything is fucked up inflated....stay away from WA, unless your a miner or engineer chasing the dollars
