Hello Peter,
Since your email to me I have received quite a number of messages like yours asking many questions about Extreme Bodybuilding 2. Please I would hope you believe me that I was NEVER invited there to compete. I have told everybody who has asked me the same story. If you notice in the picture we do not have competitors numbers which we should have and the press releases up to the event talks about GUEST POSING NOT COMPETITION. Also Nevski is not in competition posing trunks as he should have been. I even returned the trophy I was holding in that picture because in my eyes I did not earn it. I took the Silver medal and certificates back to the UK as that was what I earned from being champion in 2008.
This situation has made me very uncomfortable here in the Uk as my bodybuilding friends now are asking me why I came out of retirement. As 2008 overall winner I do not need to compete anymore- my job is done. I am now wondering why they chose me for this kind of thing when there are so many Russian and East European bodybuilders they could have used.
I also do not know what information they have added or cut out of the TV interview I did with Nevsky at the event. I am indeed shocked with the information you passed to me as I was told to come as a Guest and meet(Nevsky) a famous rising Hollywood actor and director who was meant to have been coming to the show with Lou Ferrigno.
Anyway my friend I have written to those concerned and asked for an explanation as to why the programme was changed without my knowledge and why after promises that it was all in good fun they are publishing result on the site. See below
You are fully aware of the principal reason for my invitation to
>> Brusnie. I came as a guest and to receive an award which you spoke to
>> me about when I got there. You also know that I did not come to
>> compete but to do a guest spot. You actually did announce that I had
>> retired from competition in 2008.I have not competed since.
>>
>> After your promise I see that the WBBF site carries a result which
>> lists my name in "Extreme Category 2". This situation is likely to
>> cause me problems. I behaved like a proper gentleman and remained on
>> stage when I could easily have walked off stage as some athletes may
>> have done.
>>
>> I would be grateful if you can provide me personally with an
>> explanation as to why this has been done.
>>
>> Dayo.
*** I have been told that an explanation will be given "soon" as they are busy but I do not think I will ever get one.
Kind regards
Dayo.
Hello Peter,
I will leave it up to you as to how you want to publish my letter but please promise me that we stick with the facts I have given and the exchanges do not become personal.
I have alot of respect for the WBBF and this is why I feel quite let down by what has happened. I believe I should have been fully informed about the real motive of the programme and given the choice as to whether I wanted to be involved. Probably the reason for keeping me in the dark was because those concerned knew I would not be keen to participate in the way and manner in which this film has been made and edited. Like you said I have basically been involved in a bizarre situation. Further to this when I complained after the event (and explained that it was out of respect for the organisers and audience that I did not walk off stage) I was given an assurance that it was just for entertainment value-!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!48 hours later "the result" of the "contest" is published on the WBBF website for the world to see. I am still waiting for an explanation as to why this is so and why they went back on their promise.
I am a great believer in integrity- it is something that cannot be bought with money and takes a long time to develop and which if lost is very hard to regain. My main hope now is that the WBBF does not lose its integrity because it will affect all of us who have won titles from that organisation.
I will state categorically now as I have done from the moment you contacted me that if I had been duely informed that I was coming to the Universe in Slovakia for a contest in the "Extreme bodybuilding 2" category I would have said "NO" for the simple reason that I retired from competiton as overall champion in 2008. Furthermore it is the ATHLETE OR BODYBUILDER that states his intention to compete NOT THE FEDERATION THAT ASKS YOU TO COMPETE. I never stated any any intention to compete at that event or any event for that matter. I WAS INVITED OVER AS A FORMER CHAMPION AND GUEST POSER AND WAS TOLD ON THE DAY THAT I WAS TO BE AWARDED THE WBBF SILVER MEDAL OF HONOUR.
Kind regards
Dayo Audi
