Olympia 202 vs Figure O
« on: December 07, 2010, 08:14:21 AM »
Ok was skimming the new Flex and saw the placement earnings, what's wrong with this picture

202

1st place $10K
2nd         $4K
3rd          $3K
4th          $2K
5th          $1K

But all the Women's events, Figure, Fitness and Ms O

1st - $28K
2nd - $14K
3rd - $8k
4th - $5K
5th - $3k

WHat's wrong with this picture?

WTF is 202  ???

If you can't handle it in open, stay amateur.
202 is like if there was F1-mini class for F1-racers... IT'S CALLED AMATEUR!

Fuck this thing is giving pro bodybuilding a bad name. 202 -"pros" don't deserve even that 10k prize money. How can there be semi-pro in pro division?

Huh.....! Only in bodybuilding...

so in boxing , a middle weight champion is "semi pro" ::) ::)

uh, no sir..........that is a stuipid stupid way of lookin at it..................boxi ng has weights divisions, MMA has weigth divisions

because even a mediocre heavy weight, would be able ot trounce the greatest middle weight ever.............it creates parity, its good for competition

this opens up compeition for very short competitors, how ALWAYS , no matter how goo their physiques..........get looked over in favor of taller competitors

this is  a good idea, and the level of competition , completeness, and conditionin gin the 202 is ofter waybetter then the open

Nothing is wrong with it, other than the fact that the 202 has only been in existance for a few short (no pun intended) years....it will be increased this year, along with all qualifyers getting expenses paid to the O

Nothing better than fuckin morons trying to talk like they know whats going on....and using a reference from yet another moron claiming to know what HES talking about.

As I stated in the last post (which you obviously missed)...the purse for the 202 Olympia was $20K....10 K to the winner, the rest was divided up.  The reson why I didnt announce the amounts of the checks on stage was a simple one...

I DIDNT HAVE THE AMOUNTS LISTED IN FRONT OF ME. So, rather than get the amounts wrong, I didnt mention them.  All the final placers received their checkes, just like everyone else.

Dumber still, is the fucktard that wrote the article you read (and pasted) as gospel....completely clueless. I hope that individual doesnt consider themself any type of "journelist", as a simple phone call to myself or Robin Chang would have set the record straight...

Any more questions, son?

For many, it can be quite a good investment, as many of the competitors have contracts and have bonus payouts based on placing....some match dollar for dollar. For others, its a chance to move up the ladder and put themselves in position for the bigger paydays.

For those who dont try, not much to be gained, right?

What is the minimum pay for a pro bodybuilder? Like the worst case scenario. Is it 0$/year?

As a fan and supporter of bodybuilding I only have what is announced at the contest and the posted results to go by. Apparently you have the inside scoop on placement payouts that the rest of us aren't worthy of seeing. I appreciate the fact that you cleared it up and that some sort of cash disbursement was made to other competitors. Is it a secret what they were paid, because I have yet to see it posted anywhere? Did 2nd place get more than 6th or was it a general $1000. to everyone else? Was it changed at the last minute because there was no placement monetary announcement BEFORE the 202 Olympia got under way? Once again, I'll post the results and cash payouts as they appear on MD. If someone sends MD the payout for the competitors from 2nd place on down I'm sure they will correct the page.

2010 Olympia 202 Showdown and Mr. Olympia Finals

202 Showdown
A little more respect next time, please!
Even if I didn’t have a good friend competing in this event, I would still be disgusted at the treatment the 202 men received. If it isn’t bad enough that every other event this weekend except them gets the Olympia title in its name, further indignities were heaped on tonight. Some of you will be outraged to hear the following, others will think I am making this up. All 22 Mr. Olympia competitors performed their posing routines at the start of the night show. How many 202 Showdown competitors posed tonight? None! Not the top five, the top three, or even the winner. But wait, it gets worse.

I had just watched all the top six women of the Figure Olympia receive checks. The winner, Erin Stern, pocketed 28 thousand dollars. Only the winner of the 202 Showdown got a check, and that was for ten grand. The others left the stage without a nickel. Really.

Thanks for letting me vent.

English makes it two in a row
Despite very tough competition from David Henry, Kevin English did manage to retain his title. The crowd was not pleased, as many seemed to feel David was the better man today. The rest of the results were pretty much in line with what I thought they would be, and few in the audience seemed to have a major problem with anything but the decision for first. All I can say is that if you don’t like the way the 202 men are being treated, we all need to let the IFBB know it and hopefully they will show these hard-working athletes more respect next year.

Final results:

1. Kevin English                                             $10,000

2. David Henry

3. Eduardo Correa

4. Jose Raymond

5. Jason Arntz

6. Jaroslav Horvath

Final results:

1. Jay Cutler                                                    $200,000

2. Phil Heath                                                   $100,000

3. Branch Warren                                             $75,000

4. Dexter Jackson                                            $50,000

5. Dennis Wolf                                                $ 40,000

6. Ronny Rockel                                             $ 30,000

7. Kai Greene                                                  $18,000

8. Victor Martinez                                           $ 17,000
9. Toney Freeman                                           $ 16,000

10. Hide Yamagishi                                        $14,000
