I haven't had a reason to get dressed up in a suit and tie for almost two years since I retired. However, today I was doing some lobbying at the Oregon State Capitol and the proper dress is "business attire." So before heading out yesterday to Salem, I grabbed one of the largest dress shirts I own. It has a 17.5 neck with a slightly tapered body....athletic fit, I think it is called. Well, ironed it and put it on this morning and it was a bit tight across the chest and in the arm holes, but what really got me was that when I tried to button the top button, it was choking me. I ended up leaving it unbuttoned with the tie loosened.
I don't get it. I don't have a double chin or even any neck fat at all. I don't do exercises that directly involve the neck....so why is it that this shirt, which was loose in the neck a couple of years ago, is too small now? I must be getting more buff than I thought! LOL! Incidentally, my dress pants were as loose or looser in the waist then they were the last time I wore them. I didn't button the sport coat which worked pretty well to let it hang properly without gaping at the chest or pulling across the shoulders.
Glad to be chillin' in casual clothes which fit comfortably tonight. I'm wearing a favortie pair of Lucky brand jeans and a T-shirt.
