First he says right wing (aka Republican) and then white and like I said I page one I don't agree with Rattigan as there had already been quite a bit of criticism of the treatment of Manning and even on Rattigans own network. Second - Democrats and people on the left have been critical of Obama on many issues. Remember when he "caved" on the Bush tax cuts and the Dems were highly critical (supposedly there were meetings in the House where Reps supposedly were saying things like "fuck Obama". I guess his race wasn't an issue then. How about all the criticism he received from Dems during the health care process last summer for not supporting single payer and compromising on many other points.
