The Celtic supporters are known as the Rebels or Jacobites because they supported the rebellion of 1745 which was an attempt to return a Catholic King to Scotland and Great Britain. They were beaten at Culloden and Scotland remained a Protestant country as does England with the Queen being head of the Anglican Protestant Church of England which separated from the Roman Catholic church in 1534.

My ggggggrandfather was a Jacobite Rebel, he was deported to Virginia.
