Thanks EDB. 7.5 hours up, an hour on the summit, and 6.5 hours down. One cat in the group fell apart on the climb and I was the most experienced one there so I stayed with him and we summited together. We started at the Portal. It was in fact Mt Whitney.
the start of the trail is at 8,300 ft up for those of you that are interested. You must have a permit, or that freaking ranger who hides around Mirror Lake will stop you. Did you get the permits in advance? That first part to Lone Pine Lake kicked my ass when we did it. Then we rested at Mirror Lake for like an hour
Impressed you went all the way in one day. Many people stay at the Trail Camp which is around 12,200 feet or so. And you had great weather!!!!
