Great movie. It's better with the deleted scenes added.

I think they envisioned hell better than any movie yet. Jacob's Ladder (though maybe not quite hell - a hellish nightmare, perhaps) did a damn good job, too.

yeah. Thats what was so disturing about that movie... they actually made the visage of hell terrifying, instead of just people suffering in fire, some of the scenes were just.... unsettling.

Like the dude impaled on the barb wire wrapped stick, with his guts coming out of his mouth stuck wrapped around the stick stuck in the wire..  but still alive and suffering.

Unsettling

Some might find it a bit boring but I remember liking "The Silent House." Would probably have to watch it again to see how much but kept me entertained. Once again more of an imagination type movie but I thought pretty well done.

That's a good one cause of the suspense built up. I watched both spanish original and the remake

That movie was good. It was filmed (supposedly) in one shot, In real time.

The games are so very much creepier than the movie. I played Silent Hill 2: Restless Dreams and Silent Hill 3. Both freaked me out big time. So many parts that just made me want to hide in the game to avoid all the scary. Haha

Horror is different with a game than a movie. As with the movie you're just sitting back and going along the ride. But with a game you actually have to press forward yourself.

Didn't see it, but does "that one scene" in any way involve extra terrestrials and a farmer's anus?

All these "abductee" reports of the dreaded alien probe is why I ask. Don't get it. What possible cosmic mystery could they believe is hidden in the human ass?

A Tale of Two Sisters, Audition, and I Saw the Devil were mentioned, possibly some others. Asian, at least, not sure which country or countries exactly.

Absolutely, no comparison, Silent Hill first games were truly scary, creepy and disturbing... Silent Hill 2 is probably the best of the series, with the first one close second, imo...

I remember playing the original resident evil with my cousin in the middle of the night with all of the lights turned off in the house.  That scared the fuck out of me... And when the dogs jumped through the windows, I'm certain I dirtied my underwear!!!

As long as the movie is fake enough with well known actors and CGI effects, I can't really take it serious or get creeped out by them. For me, most disturbing horror films cross a line or build so much suspense by what you don't see your imagination makes it worse (or better ;-) than u thought:

Disturbing:
1) A Serbian Film
2) Human Centipede (1, 2 & soon 3 :-/
3) Last House on Dead End St.
4) Cannibal Holocaust
5) Cannibal Ferox
6) Irreversible
7) Dawn of the Dead
8) Necromantik (1 & 2)
9) Aftermath
10) Salo: 120 of Sodom

Fear of the unknown:
1) The Blair Witch Project (saw advanced screening b4 it was trendy)
2) Paranormal Activity
3) Last Broadcast (Jersey Devil)
4) Rosemary's Baby
5) Snuff

I regretfully never got to play the first one. But the second one was truly a masterpiece. I must have played through it close to 20 times trying to get all the different endings. My brother was unable to finish it. Once he got to the hospital it was too scary for him to play anymore.

I loved that game. My first real horror game. That one part at the beginning of the game where you're introduced to the zombies by a cut scene. Where it shows the zombie eating someone and then slowly turns around to face you. That part would immediately make my brother high tail it right out of the room.  ;D

Enjoyed these, especially DB. Gonna look into your recommendation as well; Netflix doesn't have it yet.
