Funny, he wasn't yet out in, say, '82/'83 when we met him. He filmed a commercial at the
Olympic pool in Industry Hills where we practiced (where they also filmed Back to School). Chicks went nuts over him, and we all thought he was a skirt slayer.

Gay aside, dude was the Mchael Jordan/Babe Ruth of that shit. Insane natural talent, head and shoulders above his contemporaries.

You ever dived off a 10m board?  i jump it loads, never had the stones to dive though. Seen a guy fuck it up a few months ago, i literally cried with laughter when he hit the water, ass first. sounded like a fucking bomb going off.

Yes, but just a straight dive. Too high to negotiate anything else, for me anyway. Much higher up top than it seems from the ground. Same with the 7m, but I have done 1.5s from the 5m.

He was one of a kind. You can still watch his dives now. Technically, things might have evolved (though I'm no specialist) but the elegance is unmatched. Slightly homo.

yeah, i've stood on the edge a few times and thought about it, never could do it though. For an untrained guy, could probably paralyse myself. tried a straight dive from about 5m before and folded my lower back into my head. Thought i was gonna end up like Christopher Reeve when it happened.

Agree. I've never jumped from any high platform, cliff, whathaveyou, always headfirst. But only because I can control the angle and entry. Feet-first entry can be quite painful if you don't hit the water right.
