yes i agree it canīt be healthy on his joints or heart, i suspect he now feels shitty & unfit at his present weight so trying to lose blubber.
I would just walk & cycle until a reasonable weight.

I personally wouldnīt want to carry his weight around all day & iīm willing to bet he has sleeping problems.

Many guys that I listen to on YouTube say sleep apnea hit them once they were 230 or so

Yeah, sleep apnea would be terrible.
