Russia demands US pulls ALL troops from 'Central and Eastern Europe' and expels US deputy ambassador as Biden says Putin will invade in 'several days': Kamala heads to Munich Conference and Ukraine kindergarten is bombed
Daily Mail ^ | 2/17/22
Posted on 2/17/2022, 11:20:56

Showing no sign he will allow tensions to subside, Vladimir Putin demanded on Thursday that the U.S. remove all of its forces from Eastern and Central Europe and expelled U.S. Deputy Ambassador Bartle Gorman from Russia.

Soon after, President Biden told reporters he believes Putin will invade Ukraine 'in the next several days,' and that Russia was engaged in a false flag operation.

Taken together the diplomatic and military moves represent a new, dangerous phase in the crisis.

Even CALIFORNIA turns on Biden: More residents disapprove than approve of the President and VP Kamala Harris has just 38% approval in her home state in yet another disastrous poll
UK Daily Mail ^ | February 17 2022 | JACK NEWMAN
Posted on 2/17/2022, 3:27:34 PM by knighthawk

Joe Biden's poll numbers are continuing to plummet even in the super-Blue state of California, with more voters disapproving than approving of his current job performance.

A new survey by UC Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies showed the current administration is quickly losing support, with approval of Kamala Harris and California's two Democrat senators also dwindling in the polls.

It is another dire signal for the White House and the Democrats that they could be subjected to a Republican bloodbath in the midterm elections.

Joe Biden is a lousy president
SFGate ^ | 2/17/2022 | By Drew Magary
Posted on 2/17/2022, 6:26:47 PM by NohSpinZone

Joe Biden is out of excuses. He never should have had any. He won the 2020 election decisively. He took over the White House while having both houses of Congress in his pocket. He was a veteran of the Hill who, I foolishly presumed, understood not only how things are done in Washington, but how that process has evolved since he first won elected office in 1973. Best of all, he wasn’t Donald Trump. Those are all good things, and Biden’s first 100 days showed him cashing in on all of that political capital. He presided over a comprehensive and free vaccine rollout, and he crafted a nearly $2 trillion stimulus fund that included direct payments, paid leave, extended unemployment benefits, small business grants and a trove of other goodies.

He has done precious little ever since. Democrats failed to get a minimum wage increase into that stimulus bill, with eight Democrats even voting against it. That failure would soon repeat itself in every other vital initiative Biden tried to get off the ground. He banked his first term on passing the Build Back Better Act — an ambitious proposal that could have potentially reinforced and redesigned the American social safety net — only to have it killed by a single, awful Democratic Senator. He pivoted to a large-scale plan to protect voting rights only to have that entire project killed by a different awful Democratic Senator. He seized $7 billion in frozen Afghanistan funds and then split the baby between the Taliban and 9/11 victims. One of Biden’s former associates — a crony, really — will oversee the doling out of that money, while skimming a hefty amount of it off the top for his trouble.

Putting the ‘Dem’ In Dementia
MOTUS A.D. ^ | 2-18-22 | MOTUS
Posted on 2/18/2022, 10:48:03 A

A week ago the government announced that the consumer price index rose 7.5% from a year ago, marking the fastest increase since February 1982 (which was a very bad year in case you don’t remember). Yesterday Biden went to Ohio where he touted his “growing” economy – if by “growing” he means inflation.

In the same visit he proposed $1 billion in funding for a “greening” clean up of the Great Lakes. Now, it’s hard to be opposed to cleaning up the Great Lakes, but timing-wise one might question the need to do so while inflation is running unchecked. Even a potato should know that pumping billions of Federal dollars into an overheated economy is not the best way to get inflation in check.

But Biden doesn’t now and never has known diddly-squat about economics, despite graduating “at the top of his class.” Nor has he had to as he has always been good at regurgitating whatever crap his staff hands him. His modest starting mental acuity and agility however continues to slip as whatever form of dementia he’s suffering from continues to take its toll. He spouts increasingly nonsensical gibberish that nobody – neither his staff, nor his media apologists – can defend. Although I note with amusement as well as despair how his beleaguered loyalists attempt to defend his insanity in the comment sections of lefty news outlets and blogs. The most popular “defense” is to blame Trump for all the troubles in Biden’s world. Clever.

Anyway, Biden has taken to blaming “supply chain problems” for the current out-of-control inflation. As he explained to NBC’s Lester Holt last week:

“The reason for the inflation is the supply chains were cut off, meaning that the products, for example, automobiles — the lack of computer chips to be able to build those automobiles so they could function; they need those computer chips. They were not available.”

17Rattner5supply chain
Steven Rattner - former counselor to the Treasury secretary under Obama – takes exception, writing in an op-ed for the new York Times that the President mischaracterized the cause of the extreme inflation in the U.S., saying it was “simplistic and misleading,” nor unlike the Potato himself.

"For starters, the supply chains have not been ‘cut off,’ just stretched. And supply issues are by no means the root cause of our inflation. Blaming inflation on supply lines is like complaining about your sweater keeping you too warm after you’ve added several logs to the fireplace,"

According to the former Treasury staffer, the current supply issues are a result of an overstimulated economy.

Although Rattner acknowledged the pandemic has indeed stretched supply chains, he said the primary inflation source is rapid consumer demand, fueled in large part by unprecedented levels of government spending, including three stimulus payments.

On top of that, the pandemic has shifted what Americans are purchasing; as they continue to grapple with the virus, many Americans have shifted their spending to goods like cars, electronics and building materials for homes, rather than travel or entertainment. The Labor Department reported that spending on durable goods surged 25% in 2021, compared with 2020.

"It’s a classic economic case of ‘too much money chasing too few goods,’ resulting in both higher prices and, given the extreme surge in demand, shortages," he said. – Fox Business

“Overstimulated” as only a demented Democrat could do. So this report seems anything but surprising:

Democrats are joining with Republicans worried about President Joe Biden’s mental capacity in calling for a brain test of the chief executive.

The latest Rasmussen Reports survey on the issue said that 43% of Democrats want Biden to take a cognitive test similar to the one former President Donald Trump took and passed in office. Some 47% of Democrats do not feel it’s necessary. – Washington Examiner

I think the 47% who don’t thing it’s necessary should be required to take a cognitive test also.

Whip It! US Misery Index Highest In Modern History As Energy, Food And Building Material Prices SOAR (Flexible CPI Overwhelms Declining Unemployment Rate)
Confounded Interest ^ | 02/20/2022 | Anthony B. Sanders
Posted on 2/20/2022, 12:05:48 PM by Browns Ultra Fan

It is truly a miserable time for many Americans as demonstrated by the Misery Index (inflation rate + unemployment rate). But rather than using the CPI YoY measure at 7.5%, I am using the FLEXIBLE CPI YoY to compute the misery index. And is it ever miserable!

In January, the CORE flexible CPI YoY + U-3 unemployment rate hit a modern high at 22.99%. Or at least since 1967.

Like the movie “50 Shades of Gray,” we have 50 shades of inflation. Examples?

How about hardwood? Producer Price Index for hardwood is up 30.8% YoY.

How about diesel fuel prices? They are UP 40% since January 1, 2021.

How about housing? UP 20% YoY according to Zillow’s home value index.

Global food prices? UP 20% YoY.

I could go on and on, but you get the picture. Rising energy, food and construction materials are soaring making many Americans miserable.

But Powell and The Fed have promised to whip inflation. Whip it good … with interest rate increases.

Rents reach 'insane' levels across US with no end in sight
AP via Yahoo News ^ | February 20, 2022
Posted on 2/21/2022, 9:09:44 AM by Mr. Mojo

Rents have exploded across the country, causing many to dig deep into their savings, downsize to subpar units or fall behind on payments and risk eviction now that a federal moratorium has ended.

In the 50 largest U.S. metro areas, median rent rose an astounding 19.3% from December 2020 to December 2021, according to a Realtor.com analysis of properties with two or fewer bedrooms. And nowhere was the jump bigger than in the Miami metro area, where the median rent exploded to $2,850, 49.8% higher than the previous year.

Other cities across Florida — Tampa, Orlando and Jacksonville — and the Sun Belt destinations of San Diego, Las Vegas, Austin, Texas, and Memphis, Tennessee, all saw spikes of more than 25% during that time period.

Rising rents are an increasing driver of high inflation that has become one of the nation’s top economic problems. Labor Department data, which covers existing rents as well as new listings, shows much smaller increases, but these are also picking up. Rental costs rose 0.5% in January from December, the Labor Department said last week. That may seem small, but it was the biggest increase in 20 years, and will likely accelerate.

Economists worry about the impact of rent increases on inflation because the big jumps in new leases feed into the U.S. consumer price index, which is used to measure inflation.

Inflation jumped 7.5% in January from a year earlier, the biggest increase in four decades. While many economists expect that to decrease as pandemic-disrupted supply chains unravel, rising rents could keep inflation high through the end of the year since housing costs make up one-third of the consumer price index.

Kremlin pours cold water on summit plan for Biden, Putin on Ukraine
NY Post ^ | Yaren Steinbuch

Russia struck down potential plans for a meeting between President Joe Biden and President Vladimir Putin — warning Monday it is too early to discuss holding a summit on the Ukraine crisis. It’s premature to talk about any specific plans for organizing any kind of summits,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters

There is an understanding that dialogue should be continued at the level of foreign ministers,” he said, adding that there are “no concrete plans in place” for a presidential summit.

Oil Soars After Arab Oil Ministers Turn Biden Down Again, Refusing to Open Oil Taps
Breitbart ^ | February 21, 2022 | John Carney
Posted on 2/22/2022, 12:15:13

Oil prices climbed on Monday, pushing closer to the $100 barrel threshold after Arab oil producers agreed that oil production should not rise.

The price of Brent, the global standard, rose by nearly 3.91 percent on Monday to $97.20, the highest price since 2014. Many traders believe is very likely to push above $100 a barrel soon.

Over the weekend, ministers from Arab oil-producing nations met in Riyadh to discuss production levels. They said they had agreed that OPEC+ should stick to its current plan to add 400,000 barrels of oil per day. The Organization of of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and allies led by Russia agreed on February 2nd to support a moderate rise in output.

The Biden administration has been pressing U.S. allies in the Arab world to increase production in hopes of holding down fuel prices and perhaps tempering inflation. The price of oil is up more than 24 percent since the start of the year.

Oil prices have seen upward pressure from rising global demand as lockdowns and other restrictive measures aimed at fighting the pandemic have lifted. More recently, tensions between the U.S. and Russia over Ukraine has boosted oil prices.

The Arab ministers say they are wary of increasing production in reaction to geopolitical events, which often only have a temporary effect on prices.

ANALYSIS: Is Putin’s End Game To Make Biden Look Stupid?
https://dailycaller.com ^ | FEBRUARY 22, 2022 | ANDERS HAGSTROM
Posted on 2/22/2022, 4:00:25 PM by Red Badger

Russian President Vladimir Putin has played a months-long game of cat-and-mouse with President Joe Biden, and so far, Putin appears to be coming out on top.

Biden’s strategy to halt Putin’s military buildup around Ukraine and a potential invasion has been to publicize a high amount of U.S. intelligence, going so far as to detail how Russia might move forward with an invasion and even provide a date for such an invasion. The date the Biden administration offered — Feb. 16 — was ultimately incorrect.

When pressed on why the date came and went without an invasion, U.S. officials said we remain “in the window” of a potential invasion, arguably leaving Putin in the driver’s seat. Some of Biden’s critics contend that his strategy ignores Putin’s own agency and knowledge that Russian military communications are far from secure.

“Too much is made of [the question] will Putin go or not,” a NATO official in Brussels, who had been briefed by the U.S., told Vice. “Everyone could see he was willing and ready to go and the Russian army doesn’t have particularly secure comms, so people were listening.”

“Putin has a chance to blame the hysterical West and announce he got what he wanted without taking on new sanctions. And maybe it unnerved him that the Americans released the intelligence on him. Or he didn’t care. But it’s impossible to say right now that the crisis has ended,” the official added.

Putin may have done just that with his move to officially recognize two separatist groups in eastern Ukraine as independent states. Putin then ordered “peacekeeper” troops in the separatist-controlled territories Monday evening.

Former CIA Director John McLaughlin says the move was orchestrated to challenge whether the U.S. and NATO truly have a united definition of what constitutes an “invasion” of Ukraine.

“Putin has choreographed this with the hope that we and the Europeans will debate whether this is an ‘invasion’ or not. And hoping that throws us enough off balance that he will pay a minimal price for this first slice of salami,” he wrote.

Biden Sits in Silence and Picks His Teeth After Being Asked if He Underestimated Putin
Daily Mail UK ^ | 2/22/22 | Nikki Schwab
Posted on 2/23/2022, 7:47:47 AM

President Joe Biden hit Fox reporter Peter Doocy with a dose of sarcasm after he asked the president if he underestimated Putin. "The thing I love about the press is they're always on message," Biden said at a Tuesday afternoon minerals event. He then joked to those participating virtually, "Did YOU underestimate Putin?" Biden was in a more jovial mood at the afternoon gathering in the South Court Auditorium after having already announced the new Russian sanctions. "Hi everybody. How are you? Gavin, how are you, man?" he said upon entering. Newsom told Biden, "I'm impressed. I am impressed. Thank you for not canceling on us." Biden suggested that wasn't in the cards. "Oh, are you kidding me? We don't have much going on, you know, other than Russia and Ukraine and - anyway, Should we start? I guess I'm starting, huh? I guess I already started," he said laughing. Biden's comments aimed at Doocy came as the press was being asked to leave so the meeting could continue sans reporters. Right before journalists departed, Biden indicated he still had Putin on the brain remarking to Newsom that California's economy is bigger than the size of Russia's. Newsom corrected him saying, "Twice. It's twice the size, Mr. President." "Twice. Yeah, I know," Biden said. The governor noted that California had the 5th largest economy in the world, "So treat us well," he added. "But who's paying attention, right?" Biden joked.

Biden says it's 'critical' to limit impact from Russia on US gas prices
The Hill ^ | February 22nd, 2022 | By Alex Gangitano
Posted on 2/22/2022, 7:36:56 PM

President Biden said Tuesday that it is "critical" his administration works to tamp down any rise in gas prices in the U.S. due to Russian troops deployments in Ukraine and Western sanctions against the move.

“I want to limit the pain the American people are feeling at the gas pump. This is critical to me,” Biden said in remarks at the White House.

He announced that the U.S. would sanction Russian sovereign debt and Russian elites as well as Russian bank VEB and its military bank in response to Moscow's deployment of troops to regions in eastern Ukraine.

“As we respond, my administration is using every tool at our disposal to protect American businesses and consumers from rising prices at the pump,” he said.

“As I said last week, defending freedom will have costs for us as well and here at home. We need to be honest about that. But as we do this, I’m going to take robust action to make sure the pain of our sanctions is targeted at the Russian economy, not ours,” he added.

EXCLUSIVE: Pete Buttigieg accepted $250,000 and gifts from mayoral campaign donors who were later awarded $33million in city contracts, raising concerns of 'pay to play' as Transportation Secretary doles out $210billion in infrastructure plan
UK Daily Mail ^ | 02/23/2022 | Josh Boswell

Transportation secretary Pete Buttigieg's top political donors received millions of dollars in city contracts after giving thousands to his campaigns while he was mayor of South Bend, Indiana.

Buttigieg's political action committees took money from 23 companies who then got jobs from South Bend's Board of Public Works on which he was seated, documents obtained by DailyMail.com reveal.

On two occasions, the former presidential candidate received donations the same day the companies were awarded contracts.

Other city contractors gifted the mayor cigars, alcohol and golf trips worth hundreds of dollars.

The companies, their executives and spouses donated a total $253,750 to Buttigieg's campaigns, and received a total of at least $33,280,426 in city contracts between 2011 and 2019.
