But if you want to buy it how do you explain Chinatown in NYC having had some of the lowest infection rates while black and Hispanic neighborhoods where Chinese would never go had the highest?
Culturally, Asians seem to be more prepared to take the measures needed to stem a pandemic. Masking up, reducing social contacts, limiting exposures. We’ve all seen the photos of Asians in China, Japan, etc wearing masks years before Covid. I’m not sure if it was learned from SARS1 or something else, but in short that’s why. In my opinion, anyways.
I don’t think the Chinese are any less susceptible to Covid considering they suffered significant deaths both during the initial outbreak as well as during the recent cessation of lockdowns/infection prevention. Maybe lower rates of obesity and other metabolic diseases (diabetes, high blood pressure, etc) helped but they still suffered
