Look man I have also played sports at a high level and I have also been training with weights for 30 years. Lets not pretend we are not both in shape. So clearly we are both doing some type of effective training. But your weighted sit-ups are not it. I haven't done a sit-up since it was required by the Army 20 years ago. They are worthless even more so with added weight.

And a turkish get up I wouln't even be able to contain my laughter and ridicule if I actually saw a man doing this in the gym

Fine I will break it down all training works some works better than others but it all works. Basic compound weight lifting exercises hit everything you don't need to be doing 1000 bullshit Yoga Pillates Crossfit medicine kettleball movements to hit your core you hit it more efficiently doing basic weightlifting movements.

Its part of the overall package. 

I take the 45  - do the sit up - and then do an overhead press at the top of the sit up.  Today was shoulders and core mainly - so the goal is to increase volume, work capacity, caloric expenditure overall.  But also adding in as much shoulder work as can fit in for the time period. 

Everyone reacts differently to different styles of training.  For me - volume w little rest works best.   I get fat easily and stsying lean is an effort.  If someone is opposite genetics or body structure, maybe it wont work as well.

3 sets - 10 x single arm 75 DB clean and press  -  10 Side Lateral Raises with 30lb DB
3 sets - 10 x single arm 75 DB clean and press - 10 upright rows with 35lb DB
3 sets - 10 x single arm 75 DB clean and press - 10 bent over side laterals with 35 lb db
3 sets - 10x DB shrugs with 75lbs


This took about 35-40 min.   Was a bear.   You think that is crossfit stuff? 

Simple - grab a 75 put on floor  - pick it up and press overhead 10 x -   then do the laterals, uprights, or bent over raises. 

That is as compound as f and hypertrophy for shoulders , traps, etc.

I've done some exercise cycles that were "conditioning focused" by my shoulders blew up  due to the volume of weights doing stuff like that.
