Apparently, Baldwin was given the gun after being told that it was safe. The million dollar question is why there was a live round in a prop gun. Someone is negligent, and it’s not impossible that this was done deliberately, as there were some pissed off people on the set.

The whole thing brings up a lot of legal questions. What is the liability of the person who is ultimately going to be firing the gun?

In that industry, the deaths of Jon Eric Hexum and Brandon Lee have given rise to safety protocols and instruction that even "prop" movie guns are to be afforded the same degree of safety protocols as a real firearm, at least on the sets I worked OT on. Baldwin has appeared in at least a dozen movie and TV shows where he has handled firearms. Several including Miami Blues and The Getaway in posters show him with a firearm in hand. He has knowledge of and training of the proper use and handling of any firearm on a movie set, yet he chose to ignore them. Add in his years of anti gun, anti NRA rhetoric any prosecutor should be able to obtain a conviction.“

Yeah no lie. I just read this on BBC and it said it had been loaded with a live round and the assistant director called it a “cold gun” when handed to him. Strange.

If what’s said was true about Baldwin knowing about firearms and was told the gun was “safe”. Again, it falls on Baldwin to make sure the gun was cleared. His biggest mistake before the shooting was not making sure. Should have been cleared twice. This was 100% avoidable. Make sense?
