So whats the deal? Always heard stories that by the mid eighties he was bat shit crazy, running down street naked, doing meth, drinking piss.? Wtf. Is any of that even remotely true? By early 90's he was writing for M&F in addition to his Heavy Duty stuff.

So he fell hard but pulled himself back together? Surely a lot of that stuff's exaggerated?

It must've been pretty tragic to those that knew him to watch him completely collapse from being the next big thing in 1979 to being an embarrassment just a few years later.

So lets say he doesn't retire from competetive bodybuilding after 80. He's not going to win in 81 because in all likelihood it was fixed for Franco. Even if it wasn't fixed I don't see Mentzer being better than Danny, Tom or Roy Callender in that show. I think he could've won the 82 Olympia over Dickerson, just maybe. But I don't see him cracking the top 3 in 83, maybe not even the top 5.

In the video he sounds like he's trying to imitate Art Jones in terms of speech, tone etc.

For ss much as he talked about training it really seemed like he didn't really enjoy it all that much. His whole philosophy was to spend as little time training as possible and making the little time spent in the gym as thoroughly unenjoyable as possible.

Chris Dickerson took 2nd . Perhaps he was in shock, perhaps he knew all along.

Arnold won. I can’t recall hearing the announcement. All you could hear were chants of ‘rigged,rigged,rigged’ The video that was made of the competition cut Arnold’s speech short simply because you couldn’t hear it.
