While I do have the necessary equipment and more mentioned in the thread title, the chance for a home invasion for most of the US is incredibly minute. The only time I ever really thought of it was during the BLM riots, when there was a text stream among the police in my are that they were hearing chatter of suburban homes being possibly being attacked from people from a town 15-20 min away. But even then the chances were tiny.
Yeah it's rare for a home invasion, but during those BLM riots a group of armed neegs strolled through my older brother's neighborhood. They busted out a bunch of car windows but that was it.
The problem is that statistically most home invasions are 3+ people. At least it was when i lived in Houston. So, you need to be prepared for that too. A little single stack 9mm isn't the best option for home defense, but great for a daily carry.
I'm glad i live outside of the City and have most of my life. The chances of someone entering my property for any reason is nearly zero. Hell, at night i doubt most people could find my house if i told them where it was.
But to answer the OP's question.
It's guns, plural.
And i'd put someone on their back with a 12g 00 blast to the chest without even thinking about it if they were inside my house without my permission.
I live near some hiking trails and every few months some random person crosses my property corner to avoid a steep rock section. But that's about it. I have cameras and motion lights all over the place. By the time someone is on my land and walking/driving towards my house, i will be well aware of it.
Unless the person breaking into your house knows you or has been inside, they have the issue with trying to figure out the layout of your house and where you may be located. Most people are robbed by people they know or a friend of a friend.
By the time someone gets inside my house through any door or window, I'm about 5 seconds away from being able to defend myself. I have a G43 within 3 feet of me at my desk right now and a Beretta 12g fully loaded with 00 and no plug in my office closet. I even have a hidden panic room with plenty of "toys".
My security system is always on and there are literally 3 people who have been inside my house.
Even my GF will text me when she's coming up the hill.
And no, i'm not paranoid at all.
