I think they added a comedic element to the second one and as such ruined it

If you’re going to cash in and make a sequel, just make a sequel.
Leathal Weapon series is good until the third one. Pretty serious filmd with some situational comedy in it. Third -> buddy cop comedy.
Hopefylly Gibson directed 5th one will be the John Rambo of the series…
