I didn’t watch, as I’m on vacation, but BBC said he was best and that the democrats are in a frenzy. Suggesting he may be replaced at the convention. My knee jerk reaction from reading those articles, is that they won’t do that, but maybe replace Harris with somebody else and then make him step down after/if he wins in November.

I asked pre debate why the Democrats were proposing this debate, and the audition theory seems likely now, based on what I read this am.

I know how we ended up with Trump 1 - Obama completely ignored a large demographic of the country, which Trump appealed to.  Middle of the road people saw education and healthcare costs rising and took a shot on "business guy".

We ended up with Biden 1 because the Democrats pulled every trick they could to make him the nominee (Mayor Pete/Klobuchar withdrawals), because everyone else polling lost to Trump.

We ended up with the rematch because Trump botched Covid, and the media/big tech manipulated content and suppressed stories and cost the election (Trump didn't help himself either).  If he would have won, this would be over in Nov with two fresh candidates.

Then Biden did not do what he said - he did NOT promote unity, he f'd the border and afghanistan, overspent, virtue signaled, and pissed off the very same people Obama did, so Trump redux was inevitable.

His performance was awful.  When Jill said that  he would "be ready", I automatically thought he would over prepare with studying notes and dates and numbers and stats.  All which were meaningless when the other person simply lied nonstop.  Had he repeated his choice from the 2020 debates where he focused on looking "into" the camera and connecting with the people, he would have excelled.  There was no connection or warmth.

I don't think Hilary or Gavin is the answer to anything at this point.

Lots of funny moments. Trump called him Brandon at one point.

One of the LOL bits was when they asked Trump about how he would address climate change, and he said something like "We had the very best water, the cleanest air, the absolute greatest H2O." It was a typical Trumpian nonanswer but the fact that he said it coherently put him ahead of Biden which was funny and sad at the same time.
