the issue seems to be that as a private citizen you can say what you like.
However if you are employed by a company and they feel you have not adhered to their principles and ethics then they dont have to employ you

Seems reasonable to me
This is what people are seeing. You are protected by free speech from prosecution from your government but not protected against private entities. While I disagree with cancel culture, there is a certain satisfaction that comes from watching people get back what they've spent years dishing out and crying about it.

BTW Wigglet, Kimmel is not canceled, his show was suspended, his contract is up in May 26. The fcc guy did overstep his authority IMO but he does have a point.

Agreed.  In this case, the move came after the FCC chair Brendan Carr indicated ABCs broadcast license would be at risk over Kimmel comments.  Clearly a case of government interference, and it’s highly unamerican and unconstitutional.  Im glad to see other getbiggers like Wiggs and Dave D recognizing this tyranny for what it is.

As is often the case lately, I find myself agreeing with Tucker Carlson on the matter:

Watched the Carr interview, it was disconcerting. A weaponized FCC is something no one should be cheering. Boycotts, etc..... is gamesmanship, using the FCC as a bludgeon is something else. More governmental interference is seldom a good thing.

This is 100% flat out wrong, so wrong it's not worth discussing

apologies please educate me

I found this

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

sooooo if you are part of a militia you should have guns?

When that was written the people were the militia, a free state would have meant the entire country. So in order to have a free country, the people have the right to bear arm and it shall not be infringed. It does not specify any use. One of the reasons it is so fought over in the courts. Although our government has been slowly infringing on in it since it was written.

By the way, now if you are part of an actual militia, the government will put you on a watch list. ;D
PS I am curious 38, why you are so anti-gun?

Shouldn't the Public airwaves, licensed for all, serve all Americans and not be a tool of one side or the other? The government can't stay out of it because they license it all, it doesn't belong to anyone except America.  America should not slit it's own throat

I'm no fan of what Carr said either, but don't ignore this also came after affiliates threatened to preempt the program.  That is probably the real reason he was suspended.

Otherwise, it's telling only part of a story to make it fit a narrative.

Honestly, firstly I got locked up for firearms. Or rather shooting someone. It was in response to someone doing the same to my brother. Both actions ruined many many lives. Generationally ruined lives and families. I have seen first hand the damage they do and how they escalate stuff far too quickly, I don't think a civilised society should have this as an option. I also think its an easy option. If people had to fight to sort stuff out there would be nowhere near the deaths there are with guns. I now value human life preiously I disregarded it.

Wow, this actually surprises me.  Seriously, why aren't you MAGA?

Don’t get me wrong. I love Trump and what he’s doing but he did throw me for a loop when he talked about banning firearms in the trans community. Other than that, when I go to vote I vote on the issues on what’s best for the country, family and my businesses. He checks all of the boxes plus he doesn’t hold back on his views. I have a couple of hats “Make America Great Again” hats and other things I got as gifts when I was at the White House in 2020, but I’ve never gone out of my way to buy any “MAGA” swag.

Coach,
Your voice is different than I expected.
It's a good voice.

P.S. After you reach age 30 you stop wearing your hat backwards unless you're a catcher.

My hat is almost constant reverse lol

Didn't you promise to train me years ago?

Yeah, what happened with that? Didn’t you get on with the fire department?

Your experience with firearms has been negative, I understand why you may not want to have them around you. As an American that handles firearms daily, I don't have those same reservations. Here they are a part of our culture. You may see it as destructive but most view it as a freedom. If you decide to take firearms, what's next? Knives? Then maybe sticks and rocks? People can and will use anything to get the upper hand in an argument/fight. For us here, it's not an option to give them up. There are over 400,000,000 firearms here (I think that's right) If they were really a problem the number of times they were used would be much higher.

Couple of things I am curious about.

1) Did both parties in your situation 'legally' own those guns?  (No judgement brother....just wondering)

2) While I agree things escalate quickly (ad yes often times its a quick option)...whats to stop someone from using other things as weapons to harm another person in a fit of anger?  Running them over with a car...stabbing them....using a bat.....getting buddies to jump the other person and beat them to death?  Have people been de-sensitized to the ramifications of guns?  I think yes.  After getting my license and owning one, I actually look at them differently.  I know possess something that can do real damage.  I respect it more than I did before (if that makes sense)

3) A 'civilized' society has nothing to do with it.  All that means is that we have organized governments, social norms, and a focus on its citizens.  When you take a step back you could argue that we DON'T have a civilized society.   Just look at the amount of arguments there are now about social norms.

4) Can't you value life even more if you have a gun?  Look at what happens to (most) people when they have children.  They suddenly look at their lives (and the childs life) and realize how fleeting things are.  How they have to change.

NOPE 100% ILLEGALLY OBTAINED.

A MATE OF MINE LEGIT HAS GUNS HERE. HOWEVER TO HAVE THEM YOU NEED SERIOUS SECURITY CLEARANCE AND ALL SORTS OF TRAINING ETC ETC. FO RME ITS NOT SO MUCH THE GUN AS THE FACT THEY ARE SO EASILY AVAILABLE WITHOUT MUCH CONTROL. IN OPINION ANYONE WITH ANY CRIMINAL CONVICTION SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED A FIREARM. I CONCEDE ANYTHING CAN BE USED AS A WEAPON AND IF YOU ARE DETERMINED YOU WILL FIND A WAY BUT TO ME IT APPEARS ITS RELATIVELY EASY TO GET FIREARMS IN THE STATES. HERE OYU NEED TO ATTEND A GUN CLUB, SECURITY CHECKS, BACKGROUND FAMILY CHECKS, NO DRINK OR DRUN CONVICTIONS ITS ULTRA STRICT AND IF YOU MESS UP ONCE LIKE DONT HAVE A GUN STORED CORRECTLY YOU WILL HAVE HTEM TAKE OFF YOU.

3) A 'civilized' society has nothing to do with it.  All that means is that we have organized governments, social norms, and a focus on its citizens.  When you take a step back you could argue that we DON'T have a civilized society.   Just look at the amount of arguments there are now about social norms.

FAIR POINT- PERHAPS CIVILISED IS SOMETHNG WE ASPIRE TO BE

4) Can't you value life even more if you have a gun?  Look at what happens to (most) people when they have children.  They suddenly look at their lives (and the childs life) and realize how fleeting things are.  How they have to change.

THAT SWHAT HAPPENED TO ME. HAD KIDS EVERYTHING CHANGED. PRIOR TO THAT I WAS VERY PRO ME HAVING GUNS. THEY ARE A PHONE CALL AWAY HERE YOU CAN HIRE THEM FOR. A NIGHT. I'VE JUST NEVER SEEN AYTHING GOOD COME OUT OF A DISPUTE INVOLVING A GUN. YOU CAN SAY THE SAME ABOUT A KNIFE. BUT THE KNIFES PRIMARY USE IS NOT TO KILL- A GUNS IS.

INTERESTING- I KNOW ITS ABOUT OPINIONS. I ANSWER WITH RESPECT.
