Training in say Okinawa Goju Ryu is not like Shotokan in Norway.
A lot of Karate nowadays from Japan especially Shotokan ( JKA ) is sport Karate

For practical self-defense it's a waste of time.

I did shotokan under terry o'neill (he was arnies stunt fella and bodyguard for a while). you had some great fellas around like frank brennan at everton red triangle.

any questions just ask. donny is a fantsist though mate! ask him who he trained under and wait for the crickets.

when i was a kid i got books out from my local Library & as i wrote years ago on here first started my journey learning with my brother wearing two old suit jackets using two ties from my father as belts
If i remember correctly my favourite book was Judo for Boys from Captain w.e. Johns

I suppose this is exactly how most Bodybuilders started their journey too reading mags & training at home
I achieved my Goals of a Dan Grade (presently 4th) but itīs not that important to me now
