Right?
Guy comes at you in front of your kids, pushes you twice, and NW83 thinks that's the time to pause and consider the possibility of Hollywood privilege bias in a court case.
Guy comes at you in front of your kids, pushes you twice, and there is no way of predicting if the guy is going to pull out a gun and shoot because he felt threatened.
So instead of taking a chance and escalating the situation/risking getting shot, or run over...and the kids possibly losing their father...you make the smart decision to step away and go close to your kids and guard them. Instead of leaving them stranded while you let your anger control you.
You also think ahead of the possibility of the guy suing. You avoid a lawsuit and him coming after your Hollywood money.
What if Reacher lost his temper and beat the guy into a coma with brain damage? What if the guy had a heart attack while getting punched? What if Reacher had a heart attack? What if the guy showed up at Reacher's home later in the day with a shotgun for vengeance? Think about the snow shoveling shooting from years ago with the neighbors.
All you commandos on here need to think ahead when it comes to legal consequences with fighting. Yeah, you may feel like the big man on campus after you knock out someone. But how much of a big shot will you feel like when you get sentenced to life in prison for killing someone in a fight gone wrong?
Think about NYC subways. Is it wise to argue and fight with an angry passenger over taking their seat or being too loud? How do you know they won't stab you, set you on fire, or bite your nose and ears off? You don't know what people will do when angry and threatened.
There are many things worth fighting for in this world or risking your life for. But rich old geezers assaulting each other over motorcycle riding is not one of them.
