but then again some men work hard and struggle their whole life for no real good reason...
Like they work hard, may end up abit overweight and their wife divorces them they get to see their kids one every weekend, they still continue to grind to provide for the kids and then at 65 before being able to check in retirement they die from an anyurism. they never stopped to smell the roses but just grinded for some moral obligations and fear from society. What I wanted to say is that do what ever the F you want and don't shame those who like to chill and live. Because life is god damn short.
I know what you mean and I agree. You also often see very successful and immensely wealthy men be workaholics until the day they die, seemingly never stopping to smell the roses, to enjoy the fruits of the labor. It's probably almost impossible switch gears and change or ever think you have enough. They have never even been in all the rooms in the mansions they have, perhaps never even been in all their houses.
I read some interesting article where someone argued that a man can only be happy if he has 'meaningful' work, that in his opinion God made man that way. He did think for example corporate or cubicle jobs were soul killing, he thought something physical was good, something that helped society and family, something that was meaningful.
Me, I always loved Charles Bukowski. Your post reminded me of this poem:
"people are worn away with striving, they hide in common habits. their concerns are herd concerns. few have the ability to stare at an old shoe for ten minutes or to think of odd things like who invented the doorknob? they become unalive because they are unable to pause undo themselves unkink unsee unlearn roll clear. listen to their untrue laughter, then walk away."
