Molasses Yeast

I was running out of Brewers Yeast, so I stopped by the health food store.  Next to the brewers yeast was molasses yeast.  I compared the stats and found them comparable (1 serving: 100 cals, 0 fat, 14g protein, 13 g carbs and 7g fiber).  It was a great deal less expensive however.  The taste was about the same as brewers yeast.

Has anyone tried molasses yeast?  If so, any drawbacks I'm missing, what did you think etc.

Aren't you taking it for the chromium and other minerals?  Does this fit that same profile?

I thought most people take brewer's yeast for its natural b-vitamins

Generally, I think you're right, but I thought he was taking it specifically for the chomium.

yeast has protein?

Plants generally have incomplete proteins

In GENERAL, plants have incomplete proteins.  This is NOT the case with brewers yeast and molasses yeast which ARE complete proteins.  There are ten essential amino acids which must be present in a complete protein: (1) Arginine, (2) Histidine, (3) Isoleucine, (4) Leucine, (5) Lysine, (6) Methionine, (7) Phenylalanine, (8) Threonine, (9) Tryptophane and (10) Valine.  Brewers Yeast has them all and is thus a complete protein. 

So remember, when in doubt.... read the label.
