When Kaz cameback to strongman events and got beat by a couple of the new guys like Jon Pall,it was only because of injuries and muscle tear he had just recovered from.None of them could have beat him in his prime.A friend of mine saw Kaz in the 90s when he came to the UK on a seminar tour and he said he stood in front of the dumbell rack and threw up a pair of 150s,pressed them for 10 reps and put them back down.

Magnus is doing 315 in that clip; that's about where Kaz would be.

Kaz could do 315 fairly strict fir a few i rekcon like Samuelson (that clip is sick!), but 405 i just think is a just to heavy imo.

Just to clear this up, it was 180kg (396.8lbs) and it was done in seminar in the late 80's in Brian Batcheldor's gym in Poole, England. He did something like 160kgX4 and 140kgX8 as a warm-up as well. I'll post more details when I find the British magazine it was reported in.

I once heard that Bill Kaz curled 405lbs with perfect form. He was actually measured at 0.0% cheating. The lowest ever measured at Gold's apparentely. Dont take my word for it, ask Jim Quinn.

You have to remember that a lot of the guys in the old days used to do Olympic lifting as well as bodybuilding. So cleans are not that hard and some guys got to be good at quick movements. We have had curl records in my gym and the best anyone did was 185 by myself in the mid 70s. That was a strict curl. I had no trouble swinging up 225 pounds and I weighed about 220 then. Doug Hepburn set records in the odd lifts back in the 1950s. He was from Vancouver, BC. His best curl is 260 pounds and I think that was a strict curl. The man was brutally strong.

Keith Jones mentions that he has curled 315 pounds and if he weighed about that much it can be done with a bit of a swing. I doubt anyone can do it with their back against a wall.

If Kaz 'curled' a 405 pound barbell then it would have to be an olympic bar because you would destroy your wrists otherwise. He would need to give a lot of momentum with his thighs and back and virtually clean the bar. I think it is something one or two heavy and very strong guys could do. Especially if they trained for a while to do this feat. Either he did it or he didn't and it has nothing to do with belief.

I am no expert, but just the thought of Onlyme saying the kegs were full blows my fucken mind. You would need to see the footage to believe it. Kaz was throwing them 10 to 15 feet with not even a second and a half between grabbing them. It's inhuman. I say he hold his own against any man to have ever wanled the face of the earth.

I have total respect for Keith's opinions regarding strength, he was there. I'd love to hear Joe Roark's opinion on this. Kaz vs. todays line up.

And yes, Marius is fantastic, I am not saying he is not.
