Today on ESPN.com a comparison was made between Mr. Olympia Jay Cutler and Chicago Bears Quarterback Jay Cutler. What’s in a name? Well, if you’re named Jay Cutler, a lot. Everyone’s familiar with the Chicago Bears quarterback. You know — 6-foot-3, 233 pounds, threw five interceptions last week, fined $20K for abusive conduct toward a game official. If this were VH1, we might just say he had the worst week ever and leave it at that. But, alas, it gets worse. Despite being the starting quarterback on football’s grandest stage, it’s debatable whether or not Jay Cutler is even the most successful Jay Cutler in the sporting world. Confused yet? Here’s the breakdown: Bodybuilding’s version: International Federation of Bodybuilders champion and reigning Mr. Olympia. NFL’s version: INT leader (and that doesn’t stand for international). Bodybuilding’s version: Born to pump iron. NFL’s version: Born in Santa Claus, Indiana. I was trying to brainstorm some creative quip, but you can’t make that stuff up. And I don’t want coal for Christmas. Bodybuilding’s version: 19.5 (inches around his neck). NFL’s version: 17 (number of interceptions thrown this year). Bodybuilding’s version: Competes for titles against the likes of Dexter “The Blade” Jackson and eight-time…
For Immediate Release (November 13, 2009 – Oxnard, California) Iron Man Magazine Publisher John Balik reported today that the Pro Fight Supplements Iron Man Pro bodybuilding contest, originally slated to take place on Saturday, January 23, 2010, is being rescheduled for an as of yet undetermined date. The contest, which celebrated its 20th Anniversary in 2009, is one of the longest running IFBB Pro shows in the world. For the last six years, the Iron Man Pro has been held in conjunction with The Bodybuilding.com Los Angeles Fitness Expo, produced by National Fitness Productions. With over 20,000 attendees, 250 exhibitors, and an incredible line-up of fitness, physique, martial arts and strength contests, it is one of the country’s largest and fastest growing consumer fitness expos. “The Expo has been a huge success and is growing every year” said Balik. “But when it was held in late February, two weeks before the Arnold Classic to accommodate the Iron Man Pro, some companies just couldn’t exhibit at it. Shipping their booths coast-to-coast and asking their staff to work back-to-back expos was just too much for some of them.” So when National Fitness Productions elected to move the Expo to the third weekend…
Cheryl Brown continued her incredible run, and won her first IFBB pro figure contest here in Kentucky. Last week, she was second at the Sacramento Pro Figure. Julie Ann Kulla, which placed 4th last week (via a tie-breaker with Huong Arcinas) took 2nd place, and qualified for the 2010 IFBB Figure Olympia. Also, congratulations to Teresa Anthony for also qualifying for the 2010 IFBB Figure Olympia. Here are the results for the 2009 IFBB Kentucky Pro Figure: 1- Cheryl Brown 2- Julie Ann Kulla 3- Teresa Anthony 4- Patricia Mello 5- Terri Turner 6- Sherlyn Roy 7- Ann Titone 8- Rosa Marie Romero 9- Cristiana Casoni 10- Valerie Haines 11- Stephanie Billings 12- Tivisay Briceno 13- Natalie Calland 14- Stephanie Togrul 15- Rachel Cammon 16- Jessica Clay 16- Amy Lee Martin 16- Liane Siewald 16- Laura Sutter 16- Jennifer Toth For scorecard results, click below 2009 IFBB Kentucky Pro Figure Scorecard
The new updated 2010 IFBB schedule came back out today, and one event was noticeably missing – the 2010 Ironman Pro. What? This has got to be a mistake, people wondered, but as the day progressed, the emails and calls kept coming. The 2010 Ironman Pro, alas, was not going to be, and regrettably it was cancelled for that weekend. We are all awaiting a statement from the promoter of the event, which I know, has to be one of the hardest statement that he would ever make, for the Ironman Pro has been going strong for 20 years now. The Fit Expo, which is usually in the same expo hall, and weekend, will continue, which has over 150-200 booths, as well as a myriad of other events. But for the pro bodybuilding community, the loss of the beloved Ironman Pro contest will hurt. It would have been my 15th Ironman contest, and not having it start the pro season, in my own hometown, is going to be quite distressing. There are a lot of rumors and speculation as to why the contest was postponed, but we will wait until the press release comes out.

From the PR Newswire, by Weider Global Nutrition SALT LAKE CITY, Nov. 12 /PRNewswire/ — GLG-Weider Sweet Naturals (“Sweet Naturals”) is a joint venture between GLG Life Tech Corporation (“GLG”) and Weider Global Nutrition (“Weider”), combining GLG’s knowledge of stevia and Weider’s expertise in marketing, sales and distribution of health and nutritional products. In their Shareholders’ Agreement, GLG and Weider stated their intention was to maximize stevia-based product sales through Sweet Naturals throughout the world. On October 14, 2009, however, GLG announced that it formed its own sales team for stevia-based products. On November 4, 2009, Weider filed a Statement of Claim against GLG with the Supreme Court of British Columbia in Canada, stating claims for breach of the Shareholders’ Agreement, misrepresentations by GLG and its Chairman/CEO, and for breach of fiduciary duties. The Statement of Claim is a public court record. Weider remains committed to supporting Sweet Naturals, which continues to market stevia-based products, and GLG has represented that it will continue to supply Sweet Naturals. Although Weider is hopeful it can resolve its dispute with GLG — and improve Sweet Naturals’ service to its customers — Weider intends to maintain the lawsuit to protect and enforce its interests.
Kraft Foods has agreed to sell its Balance Bar business to Brynwood Partners of Greenwich, Connecticut. The transaction is expected to close on November 21, 2009. Kraft Foods will provide these services using either the Kraft Foods sales organization or Acosta Marketing and Sales, as we currently do, to ensure no interruption to the business.
Toney Freeman was the favorite, and Toney Freeman won the show, but not without a fight by Craig Richardson, who in many people’s opinion, almost took the title from Toney. Heinz Senior The 2009 IFBB Sacramento Pro Figure competition was the closest I have ever seen a contest go, with only 2 points difference between 1st and 4th. It was just close, with, as I predicted, Kristi Tauti taking first place after placing second at the IFBB Border States a few weeks ago. What is surprising is Cheryl Brown, jumping into second place over defending champion Huong Arcinas, who looked amazing. Some people had Julie Ann Kulla…
Moe El Moussawi was up in Sacramento, as Pro Fight, the company in which he partially owns was the title sponsor for the contests. Speaking to Moe, he said that he will be ready for the 2010 Ironman, and he is also going to win it! Last year, Moe placed second over Silvio Samuel in a battle in which each competitor blasted each other on who will be better prepared. Silvio did win, but Moe bested Silvio at the 2009 Olympia by two places. Will this battle continue? Sources have said that Silvio is not going to defend his title at the Ironman? We will see.
