It is with great pleasure that Joe Wheatley Productions in conjunction with Councilmen Bill Rosendahl, 11th District, City of Los Angeles were able to present a Resolution from the City of LA honoring Joe Weider, Father of Fitness and Nutrition, for his dedication and lifetime commitment to physical fitness, nutrition and a healthy lifestyle. During a ceremony at City Hall on Friday, January 22, 2010, the Muscle Beach Venice Bodybuilding Hall of Fame, Lifetime Achievement Inductee with his wife Betty, family and friends received recognition and acknowledgement for his 73 year commitment to his philosophy. Standing proud, Joe acknowledged his meager beginnings in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He described his early achievements in publishing magazines, books and inventing equipment that supported weight training as a form of exercise. He went on to include nutrition in his publications and soon became the co-innovator and voice of the International Federation of Bodybuilding (IFBB). He described his dedication and persistence when the health care community including physicians and mental health workers thought his ideas were “nuts”. The 2010 Los Angeles Fit Expo at the Los Angeles Convention Center on the 23-24th of January was a success. Lots of people came into the expo, and checked out the latest vendors and supplement companies, including BSN, Gaspari, American Body Building, MHP, Champion, EAS, Bodybuilding.com, Ultimate Nutritrion, SAN, Pro Fight, Nutrigenix and of course, many others. Jay Cutler, at a seminar on Sunday, answered many questions. Markus Ruhl, Ronnie Coleman, Branden Curry, Peter Putman were also there to greet their fans. Ava Cowan, Amy O’Neil, Cathy LeFrancois, Krissy Chin, Timea Majorova, Zhanna Rotar, Marzia Prince, Amanda Latona, Natasha Wicks, Alicia Marie and many other IFBB & NPC female competitors were there to the delight of many.

Markus Ruhl is huge, and coming off a surprising comeback last year, in which he proved once again he is still a top IFBB pro bodybuilder, was at the Ultimate Nutritrion booth at the 2010 Fit Expo here in Los Angeles on January 23-24th. Moe El Moussawi, top 10 IFBB Olympia athlete, flew into Los Angeles on Friday from New Zealand. Each year in Columbus, Ohio, right after the Arnold Classic Pro Bodybuilding event, parties are usually held around town. One of them is the official Arnold Classic After Party, with Arnold himself attending the event, and another is the Jason Dhir Mega-Party Charity After Bash. Both are great parties, and I have a great time at both of them. Here is the information on the parties. The Arnold Party With The Pros will once again be the place to be as the world’s top professionals in bodybuilding, fitness, figure, strongman and others celebrate deep into the night at the Official After-Party for the Arnold Classic. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger will also make an appearance at the can’t-miss event of the weekend. The Arnold Party With The Pros will be held from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Saturday, March 6 – immediately following the Arnold Classic — at the LC Pavilion and neighboring A&R Music Bar and The Basement on Neil Avenue in the Arena District. The Party With The Pros will be a long night of fun, with drinks, dancing, music, star-gazing and world-class entertainment. This Saturday and Sunday, January 23rd and 24th, the Los Angeles Fit Expo is going to be the place to be, with many NPC, IFBB and other MMA competitors at various booths and checking out the action at the L.A. Convention Center. One of the highlights that I am looking forward to is the current IFBB Mr. Olympia Jay Cutler, who is going to take the main performance stage on Sunday at 2pm for a Q&A Seminar. This event is a great way to see what Jay has been up to, and how he won back the Mr. Olympia title when very few people thought he would. See you there.

Here is the latest poster for the first IFBB contest of the year. The 2010 IFBB Phoenix Pro is starting to rev up, and features pro bodybuilding (mens and womens), and pro figure. Troy Alves and Quincy Taylor are featured on the poster, as well as Felicia Romero, Amy O’Neil, Gayle Moher and Nita Marquez. This is the first IFBB pro contest in Arizona! With the loss of the 2010 Ironman Pro, there will be no IFBB men’s pro bodybuilding in Southern California this year. But next year, Flex Magazine along with Ultimate Nutrition is bringing back men’s pro bodybuilding to Los Angeles, with the 2011 Flex Pro Bodybuilding and Figure Championships on February 26, 2011.
