No, maybe it's absolutely possible in other parts of North America and Europe?  I honestly wouldn't know?  I don't feel that you can truly be free in a country where you're not given the right to bare arms for defense against your government.  I think the Second Amendment in itself is a gigantic, important part of the American Dream.

I have a German friend (From Aachen).  When he was looking at homes here he was shocked by the size of the ones in his price range, the size of the yards, the amount of closets, etc.  He was shocked how inexpensive Adidas (I learned it's pronounced Adi-das, lol), and that Mercedes Benz cost about 1/3 here of their price in Europe.  I thought that was kind of interesting.

I don't see the problem with people feeling entitled to a job - the right to work is a basic human right and certainly better than living off welfare which a lot of people in the UK do. They sponge off the government their whole lives and they shouldn't be allowed to get away with it.

But I agree, the other stuff is just things you procure once you do have a job and should work up to it. And if you can't obtain it by living within your means. then you should save until you can - that's what I do - I don't have any debt and until I can afford the things I want, I just go without.

The thread kind of moved on from here (although not towards Dorian vs Ronnie which is amazing) but i don't disagree having a job shouldn't be a right but people today believe they deserve that job and don't work! They call in sick for nothing, come in late because of their kids, they don't work when they are there. They don't treat the job like it's important and actually pays for everything, they treat it like they are entitled to the money and they don't have to follow through with doing enough.

‘Economic terrorist’ Behind Wall Street protests? Radical’s plan: ‘Bring down stock market’ ‘Literally cause a new financial crisis’.

Stephen Lerner, a controversial anti-Capitalist SEIU organizer, is one of the forces behind the protests on Wall Street and nationwide, according to quotes obtained by a socialist activist who doubles as a Washington Post columnist.

KleinOnline was first to report, Lerner was the brainchild of some of the economic protest templates being used by the Occupy Wall Street campaign.

Lerner recently laid out a mass economic protest plan intended to bring down the stock market. Lerner boasted his plan could be used to cause a new financial crisis. Lerner’s ideology prompted some conservative critics to go so far as to label him an economic terrorist.

Writing in the Washington Post on Tuesday, columnist Harold Meyerson, Vice-Chair of Democratic Socialists of America, quoted Lerner describing how a coalition of various groups are fomenting the current economic protests.

Lerner described himself as part of those groups, referring to the organizations behind the demonstrations as “we.”
