chest shoulders tris

machine flys 2 working sets
pec deck 2 working sets
decline machine press 2 working sets
machine side raises 2 working drop sets
rope tricep ext 2 working sets

also tried a new machine today a seated tricep extension, nice feeling, 4 good sets moderate intensity

Im jumping into a show in 4 weeks 3rd Sept PCA Manchester over 50s
I can work at something new prior to my main show on the 24th Sept.

Are you going to failure/ or close with low volume of sets per exercise?
Do you count reps / have a target to reach.

Your time in the gym must be short 20-25mins max.
How many days are you training a week.

I dont count warm ups, I do a few on the first excercise and maybe two just to get a feel of the movement on all the rest
I just get a weight where I can do around 8/12 reps and go all out, with the machines I can go to failure much easier than free weights
around 35-45 mins in the gym

Hoping to get a Universe qualification at the England, was going to wait until next year but at 58 not long left

Have you seen the cahnges with NABBA
Anyone can attend any area qualifier now regrdless of home address

Good news for the NW prompters as theres is normally the last qualifier
Show is likely going to be stacked witrh competitors from all over the UK

May not help other areas though

I hope so, Im doing the UK again the week after the Universe to hopefully qualify early for next years Britain
I will have been dieting for around 16 months out of the last 18.  ;D

A lot of the diet has been pretty much maintenance
I am a lot fuller at the moment, the first show I did last year I was only 13st10lb(too depleted )
Im currently 14st12lb
Im carb cycling at the moment Sunday to Friday  300gms, 200, 100, then 300, 200,100
Saturday day off eat some mormal food
I normally just go 60gms a day carbs Sunday through Friday

Training better with the carbs and getting great pumps, just a bit watery on high carb days
I think Im carb sensitive

Going to try something for the England show I havent done before (former Universe competitor is helping)

Yeah sounds like you are that bit carb sensitive if watery on high carb days.

why 8 sets for every exercise?  8x8 system sure but why the same system for every muscle group? because it works or is it just uniformity?

I just like to hammer every movement, I ideally like 10 sets of everything but the guy I’m training with now can’t handle 10s so we do 8 sets of everything. I feel like I’m leaving something on the table if I just do 3,4 etc… sets. Just some ocd prob haha.

OK.. i personally only do 3 sets per exercise but to failure, not that i think volume training is bad but i see no need for so many sets per exercise.

I go back and forth between going to failure and stopping a couple reps shy and I’ve noticed that I get more out of volume than I do going to absolute failure. I trained most my life just to failure cause I would never stop a set at 10 if I could do 50 even warm ups I take to failure I just don’t believe in wasting a set. Lately though I’m getting better results than I ever did before. I just get bored and need to do more for my mind to feel like I did enough.
