I am a yellow dog Democrat, but one of the stupid things that Au-stoned-ians thought was that they could persuade people not to drive cars by preventing highways from being built.

They say we are 14 years behind on roadway infrastructure. Of course Tolls was their first answer. Don't even get me started on the fraudulent billing.

In your delusional little mind that was a funny quip.

Sales tax in Texas is essentially higher than it is in California, but the total tax burden is lower. Cost of living is lower in Texas. Median home prices are 1/3 of what they are in California. Several Texas cities are on the ten best places to retire.
Texas doesn’t have state tax.

No...it is quoting regional slang for citizens of Austin.

Also...."Austintatious"....."All-Stoned Texas"...."Live Music Capital of the World"..."Keep Austin Weird"...."The Gas Pipe"..."THE University of Texas"..."The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers"..."The Rip Off Press"..."A Beacon of Enlightenment"...

Anyplace is good if you have money and anyplace sucks if you don't have money.

This is my observation.

Any place away from the snow will do. Heard South Carolina is nice.

Nothing compares to Florida though.

Mild summers cool winters are fine. Medium size town. Not a hunter or fisherman, but I like the outdoors

Other than "cool" winters, there are a ton of places in Wisconsin that fit that bill.  Buy a snowmobile though, and you will learn to love winter.  It is beautiful there, and there are tons of amazing privately owned restaurants that the locals only know about, but will gladly share their locations.  Tons of places to hike, trails to bike, bodies of water to kayak, sand dune beaches with water warm enough to swim in during summer, and always a breeze during hot days.  Oh and did I mention year round fireworks?   ;D  Miss that place a ton.

Ah I guess I totally missed on that one. That was pretty funny.  :)

I take the loop 130(or sometimes Highway 77) around whenever possible so I'm not up to speed on alot of these things.  :-\

I'm aware of a that but what about Trump

Surely he could find 78 US Citizens in Florida who want to be cooks and housekeepers and pay them a decent wage?

This was one of the basic premises of his entire campaign

Mar-a-Lago requesting permission to hire 78 foreign workers

President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort is requesting federal permission to hire an additional 38 temporary foreign workers.

That brings the total requests in recent days to 78 workers for the upcoming winter season.

The Palm Beach resort, which Trump has dubbed the “winter White House,” submitted applications to hire 21 cooks and 17 housekeepers on H-2B visas, according to Labor Department data first reported by The Washington Post.

Mar-a-Lago requested permission to hire foreign 40 waiters and waitresses last week.

If it's being done legally it's ok.

Illegally is not ok.

Simple.

I think it's a fair question.,.. could Trump or his organization not find 78 US Citizens that need work?

What about Senator Feinstein's driver of 20 years being a Chinese spy?

For everything you can find on Trump, I can find on his enemies. You know this is a battle neither of us can win.

But the clear difference is Trump was the turning point when we were going to make things in America again.. America first.. so why not just hire Americans?

He does. What happened before his elevation to his current office is immaterial.

no

100% serious

Same thing I said about Trump hiring foreign workers for Mar A Lago

I'm sure there are plenty of US citizens who can bus table, cook, etc.. (not sure what jobs Trump is bringing in these workers for)

I'm sure Trump would be very happy to pay higher wages if that's what is needed to fill those jobs with US citizens

Ability to perform a job is not the same as willingness to do so. Higher wages, benefits and full time positions might be encouraging for some people who otherwise would not apply for the job.

I'm a hipster at heart but yeah, Fridays and Saturdays, don't go to any restaurant hungry unless it's a Sushi place. The wait is quite a bit. When I moved there in 93 you had a little rush hour traffic. Now, getting on any of the highways between 7am and 9pm is like rush hour.

Try Uchi at 6 pm any day of the week and you'll add sushi to the list...

Musashino is better than they are anyway, in my opinion. I'm South Austin and we have a GREAT restaurant here called Eurasia down in Oak Hill. Indonesian.... It's sushi and seafood primarily but they do offer other dishes and have a huge menu... no I don't own the place, but what I've invested there lately, I feel like I should at least have a booth in my name ;)

I am a business owner and employ 23-25 people depending on who shows up on any given day.  That said, finding people to work, especially when people hear about how good the economy is makes it very hard to find unskilled labor.  I have never had an illegal work for me, nor would I.  But just because the economy is humming doesn't automatically qualify someone who holds a shovel to get a $5 hour raise.  There are some who do not understand this in the labor force.

do you want to guess who said this

We will reform legal immigration to serve the best interests of America and its workers, the forgotten people. Workers. We're going to take care of our workers.

of course it was Trump

Why can't Trump hire US Citizens to work at Mar A Lago

Surely there are 78 US citizens in Florida who would be happy to have those jobs

Why is he ignoring the "forgotten people" that he claimed to be concerned about?

Get yourself down to Mar-A-Lago and apply for a job.  I'm sure Trump will give you a chance.
