It's not so much as a joke, he comes here and makes himself out to be a "Big Dawg" talking down to everybody, when he dances around in thongs for men and has progressively gotten worse over the yrs...he's like a caricature of his former self...he's self serving, uses this site to spam his radio shows, or whatever endeavors...he's bad for this "sport", the epitome of tastlessness, crassness, and has a severe lack of self respect. Or lack of respect for his family.
And then after all he's done to his body, the drugs, and synthol that he's pumped into his body--which wasn't for competition, but for the image of being a competitor and for his G4P clients, he comes here and wants sympathy.
I read what you posted with much interest mainly because I am trying to understand why folks feel it is necessary to respond in such hateful ways to this thread. I say "this thread" because Derek did not instigate it, he just seems to be the topic of it.
All of what you say about Derek and how he has likely brought his current health situation on himself because of the stupid choices he's made may be right on. However, as much as we'd like to believe that whatever we put out, we get back....in spades reality does not support this. Bad things happen to good people all the time and likewise, bad people come up smelling like roses just as frequently. What you might fault Derek for is his arrogance and his losing the bet that he could beat the odd's. For every Derek, there are probably a hundred or so more jerks out there who will come out on top. I suspect that this is what the average Getbigger is betting on.
I am curious; you say that Derek is a caricature of his former self. What self are you referring to? Derek made his way (at least in part) by engaging in prostitution or G4P. He was doing this way back when he was still a teenager and shmoes probably lined up for him. Frankly, I cannot imagine that he has a huge clientele these days....there is always someone younger and hunkier or prettier waiting in the wings. Sure, he looks ridiculous with all those stupid tattoos and his bloated self. You cannot say he is alone in this. Anyone who tries to make a profit on their looks is destined to fail at some point. As time passes for these people their self esteem which must have been very fragile to begin with is totally beat to hell. They often become desperate. Aside from being like Dorian Gray and having a portrait in the attic that grows old and grotesque instead, we all get old and less attractive. Even Dorian failed in the end.
I still say that this tread examples other folks denial more so than Derek’s. Read the posts and they all start looking like excuses for why they (I) won’t end up like Derek. There is a lesson to be learned here and I am not sure anyone is really paying attention.
