Occupy was a reaction to the investment bank bubble burst and consequent taxpayer funded 'bailout' which executives took home as bonuses. It was a protest against socialism for the rich and tough-cookie capitalism for the rest of us.
Unfortunately, it lost focus as every loudmouth with an agenda used it as a platform for their pet project, and predictably failed to win popular support as it drifted into a far left dreadlock circus. At it's inception, however, it was right on target.
