It's OK, doesn't put bodybuilding in a good light but Arnold is really good in it. Charles Gaines, the author of the book, was not happy with the way the movie turned out.
We owe Charles Gaines, George Butler and the entire crew of Pumping Iron a tremendous debt of gratitude for taking bodybuilding seriously.
Although it's damatized to some degree (which, if anything, made for a better film), it's still a very raw film that documents bodybuilding in just a simply fascinating way. They aren't made to look like meatheads but instead people with real backgrounds, real jobs and real emotions. A lot of thought put into making it and it shows.
